yes, the input to the rear sub is speaker level, just splice in or take those leads out to the speaker level INPUTS of the Taramps Amp.. Regarding using a 4 inch speaker in place of the 3.5 inch Ive only read cons vs the pros on the topic.... search the threads and decide.... sometimes if "some is good more is better" doesnt always apply.
Is this the same connector as the one used for the dash speakers? So I disconnect that
Is that the connector to the sub that I need to interrupt in order to use the Taramps amp (a bit to the left w/ purple and green line)? I'm assuming the output of the amp would then reconnect back to this? Sorry just confirming, just want to be sure. I've not seen photos of how it was connected, just the layout of the amp from post #180.
Yes, unplug the connector with the purple and green wires. I bought the correct male and female connectors (links earlier in this thread), run this to the sub speaker level input. Run the sub output back to the original location. Picture attached....
Before disconnecting, I used a phone app to measure base levels, and once the new sub was powered up I adjusted the output just a little higher than stock.
I have gas and wnat to do the fios on the existing sub but waiting for someone to do a step by step write up with pics - not afraid of DIY just need to be guided.
Hey buddy...I'm just done the fosi method and here u go on all the connection you need. Hope it helps.

This really does, Thank you for putting this together. Question - Which end do I connect to the purple/green wire? From the Fosi amp? Or the Converter? Also, how do I splice into the AC plug using the 12V Power Converter?
To people who may be interested in JL C2-400x on your NX 350h, I'm here to give my two cents.
First off, don't worry about the size. It fits pretty well in the hole steadily with only cut off two tabs on the speaker itself. No issues with the screws, they fit perfectly even better than other 3.5" speakers.
Coming to the audio quality, it sounds amazing to me. With only two corner dash speakers replacement, I'd say you'll get like over 60% sound improvement in terms of clarity, deepness, and smoothness (you name it).
Budget wise, it doesn't hurt you much if you're already after JL C2-350x. With additional 20 bucks you'll get a noticeable amount of lower frequency and higher clarity imho.
All in all, I'm extremely satisfied with the result. If I were to further make any modification, the powered amp on the OEM sub would be the next. passenger side with new JL C2-400x
3.5 inch plastic dash cover designed for 3.5 inch speaker
regarding 3.5 inch vs 4 inch speakers...the topic has already been discussed buried in this very long thread.... The fact is that the plastic round/rimmed dash opening is designed for and allows for a round 3.5 inch diameter opening at the dash. My assumption is that some of the sound generated by the wider 4" speakers is obscured , albeit to a small degree by the 3.5" opening.... I agree that the C2-350x speakers sound pretty darned good vs the OEM speakers.
Pix below plucked from pg 2 of Subwoofer thread....

Reason: clarification

Right, I did go through all replies under this thread before I decided to get my hand dirty, so I was aware of this. Because I was so into that marginally better sound quality that 4" speakers could bring, I eventually try both of them on dash just so I can compare both with my own ears. To me, the 4" speakers are indeed better than the 3.5" ones, regardless the size of the plastic grill above, thereby I finally went with the larger.
Again, this is only my two cents, and I do appreciate everyone in this community to make this happen easier! I can't and ever can't represent any other individuals, this is only my own experience.
I also went with a 4” and no regrets here. C1-400. I’m not worried about any blockage of the covering. If ever it’s minimal.
yes thanks to all that went before us. First time I read about upgrades here were doing Alpine and they were 4” also. So I guess that stuck in my head. Either way (my money) you won’t likely discern one from the other.
my only possible question is my decision to go with the C1 instead of the C2…but I most likely wouldn’t know the difference if you blind test me. Seriously, can you guys tell?
I believe it’s the Taramps that is better. Wouldn’t give you that noise on shutting down, or something like that. I’ve not done mine just bec I actually feel I don’t need it. I went to the back and can hear my sub working. It’s not rocking the car but I believe it’s enough low freq. I can also feel it moving under.
does anyone know the impedance of that sub? Is it a 2 ohm or a 4?

It's crazy how many types of plug-in adaptors for each brand of cars or that Metra would have the female....but not the male! Makes me want to just cut these off and just replace them w/ XT30 plugs. Why can't everyone just use one friggin' type of connectors?!
