Subwoofer
My 2025 NX 350h has the Luxury package so it came with the ML sound system. Has anyone made improvements on the ML sound system? Curious to know what could be improved upon...
Great thread!
Great thread!

Yes, ML Sound System confirmed.
After going through all 30 pages of this thread (thanks to all for the great info!) I have decided to first try the replacement of the front speakers (JL C2-400x) as well as add an amp to the stock subwoofer.
I have read multiple posts that state using the Taramps Bass 400 with the stock subwoofer “should” eliminate both – 1) the “Pop” at power up/down, and 2) the increased Active Noise Control (ANC) and Active Sound Control (ASC) that is pumped in the NX 350.
Can anyone who has installed the Taramps Amp with the stock subwoofer confirm BOTH of those statements are correct?
Thanks in advance for the info!

I swapped two of the front speakers last night and agree that the front speaker replacement was indeed a substantial improvement.
As far as the subwoofer I'd like to try a progression until I achieve the sound that I like (all subjective anyway). I upgraded my most recent cars with both full subwoofer upgrades and just an amp and was satisfied with the results in each case. The next step with our new NX would be just a subwoofer amplifier upgrade that many have posted about in this thread.
I am hoping that someone can answer if adding the Taramps Amp eliminated both the power up/down popping sound AND the increased Active Noise Control (ANC) and Active Sound Control (ASC).
I can't answer your question specifically on the Taramps, but since (I think) a majority of the people that frequent this forum drive hybrids, they won't have the Active Noise Control features. I do have a cheapo amp on my stock subwoofer and since I drive the Turbo model, I do have the noise control and engine sound enhancements. Certainly when the car is started with the extra amp on the subwoofer turned up a fair bit and with these features turned on I do get the Whoomp, whoomp, whoomp sound, but after this initial noise for the first 2 or 3 seconds there is no additional noise that I've been able to tell. Since the "pop" noise is supposedly a result of the amp powering on a better amp may solve this, but the sound enhancements come from the car itself so I'm thinking any amp is just going to play the initial noises because that's what the audio signal its receiving is saying to do. You could always just shut off the engine sound features altogether. I've actually turned each of these features on and off separately and together a few times over the last year or so and frankly, during driving I am very hard pressed to notice any difference whatsoever. I keep cycling back and forth between settings every couple months and try to convince myself there is or isn't a noticeable difference. Maybe at large throttle positions when things under the hood are busy, just maybe..., but around town which is 85% of my driving, indistinguishable. My jury is still out if I should just leave these settings off and go au naturel all the time...

Thanks for the info! How are you turning off the ANC features - via the connector or an App? If an App - which one?
Carista. I already had an OBD bluetooth device that was compatible with it and they had a subscription sale sometime last fall for something like 70% off so I got a 1 yr subscription. I have towards the end of the year to decide exactly what settings I plan to keep going forward as I will let the subscription lapse.

Repeating:

(1) replace front speakers (JL C2-400x great speakers)
(2) replace subwoofer and subwoofer amp (Taramps Bass 400 is very good, but the stock subwoofer is only mediocre; replace it also for best subwoofer sound improvement)
Good Luck and Good Sound

I have a post earlier in this thread, which shows pictures that are from the stock OEM amp that’s located in the centre console. You just reach your hand underneath and disconnect the centre plug which is the ANC and then you don’t need an app or any other special features in order to deactivate it, it’s just literally removing that one plug. Hope this helps my friend 🤞
On my last Lexus which was a 2021 ES350 F-Sport 2 with ML package both ASC and ANC and one other thing with in that same middle plug on the ML amp under the drivers seat. Once unplugged I never had a problem after that. I think is common with all newer Lexus vehicles. Just in the newest NX it’s trickier to get to but still pretty easy if you know where to stick your hand in under the center console pannel and then just feel around for three plugs and unplug the middle. My current 2025 NX is base model but it still came with ANC and I’m sure in the F-Sport trims that fake engine noise coming in through the sound system at certain RPM’s would be included as a feature connected through the same plug. Hope this helps my friend. 🤞
