I'm not saying the Lexus (or Toyota) oil filter is not a good filter. I'm saying that Motorcraft or Purolator are just as good and most likely half the price.

Half of $7 is $3.50. I really don't get excited in that savings!

It doesn't matter what kind of oil you use, from Walmarts Supertech fully synthetic,to major brands, they all work the same, same as with conventional oils,Walmart has the cheapest prices especially when you buy the 5 gallon jugs....AS LONG AS ITS A GREAT QUALITY OIL,YOUR GOOD...

I am using Pennzoil full synthetic. I think it is called Premium FS. I tried to find the Ultra formulation, but could not find it as that is what my brother used for the past 40,000 miles. Very quality oil.

I've decided that I'm going to use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W-30 and the Motorcraft FL400S filter. However (and I trust the members here more than Amazon, so I'm just asking), when I select the filter Amazon gives a message stating "this does not fit your 2004 Lexus LS 430". What gives?

Not familiar with many using Motorcraft (but have not gone deep down that rabbit hole) oil filters as I have always gone OEM when it comes to oil filters with both my LX470 and now the 430.

As alluded above, provided the change intervals are relatively sane, I am sure it would be fine. All the same, I would go with a Lexus oil filter. That said, I do have the dealer do the oil change as my dealer gives me a loaner ever for oil changes and washes it for under $40. I provide my own oil almost every time. Once, I did have them use Mobil 1.

There was a guy earlier in the thread, I think his name was LSCowboy or something, and apparently he was a Lexus master mechanic. He said the motorcraft fl400s was his favorite filter for the ls430.

In that case, totally makes sense. Like I said, I have not spent any time researching oil filters on the 3UZ. Did spend a good about of time on Bobistheoilguy (talk about going down the rabbit hole...) as I was not that familiar with Pennzoil's synthetic offerings.

Also, after reading the earlier post. It would say the Motorcraft is not applicable on Amazon as the ones listed on the first post are oversized with the exception of I think the TRD filter.

The Motocraft FL400S oil filter fits the LS.
