Fram is absolute garbage and this has been talked about. Mobil one 5w-30 and recently mobil one filter, a K&N if they're on sale.

I have used Fram filters (as well as Purolator, Wix, Autolite and others) for many, many years with NO oil related failures. None.

If you totaled up the number of miles that I have personally put on cars using Fram filters, it would be in excess of 2 million miles and probably closer to 4 million.
I sold a 1989 Chevy Blazer (V1500) that had 174,000 miles on it, to a guy that I work with.
He now has 300,000+ miles on it, and it has had nothing but Pennzoil 5w-30 oil and Fram filters (since the first oil change at 500 miles).
The valve covers have never been taken off of the engine (350 cu.in.) and it does not use/lose oil.
I bought a new 1981 Toyota Corolla w/3TC engine and it had 191,000 miles on it when I sold it. It had nothing but Pennzoil/Fram on/in it the entire time I had it. Zero problems.

The secret to oil filters is to change them.
I don't care what/who's brand you use, they will get dirty.

I have routinely changed my oil and filters every 3,000 miles (or as close to it as practical) since I was taught how to, by my Dad, in 1962.

Mobil1 and K&N oil filters have almost identical construction except for a nice 1" socket on the end of the K&N

I have always used Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W-30 in my 02 ES with a K&N filter. Like mentioned previously, the the ability to slap a 1" deep socket on the end made removal a piece of cake.

On my O6 GS, I am still using Mobil 1 Syn. 5W-30 but Toyota has be bent over on the filters. This thing has the cartridge type filter available through them. I found one brand; "Full", on line but have never heard of them and also just found out, STP carries a cartridge kit that looks very similar.

I run Castrol Syntec 5W-30 and either a Toyota filter or Napa Gold. I change it every 5000 miles. Good stuff too because the insides of the engine are soooo clean!!

I use mobile 1 0W-30, with the K&N filter. Never have had any problems on any of my vehicles with this combination.
