The D3422 is on the vehicle now. I didn't compare it to the D3330, only to the OEM - it's only slightly longer than OEM, like FL400S.
I don't want to re-hash the evals that are already stated ... The D3330 box states that it has a 99% trapping efficiency, and holds 14 grams of sludge / dirt, compared to the Bosch "High-Premium" filter = 99.5% trapping efficiency and 22 grams of dirt capacity, and the Bosch "Performance Premium" filter = 99.9% efficiency and 29 grams of dirt capacity.

Hi Tom57,
Just checking in to ask if you had any trouble with the D3422? Did you notice any improvement?
Hello mfalcon,
I didn't have any "trouble" with the Bosch D3422, and I also didn't notice any improvement over the OEM filter. (I'd have to do an oil analysis comparison to find out for sure). I've gone back to using OEM filters, 5K mile change intervals, on dino oil. For me, the ultimate test is my '01 with over 265K miles and it doesn't burn oil, after 15 years of cold weather starts on dino oil and OEM filters changed every 5K miles.
the whole oil/filter discussion is interesting from a psychology perspective...people obsess over it, yet the evidence is that a very wide range of oils/filters will support your car's engine for a very very long time with no issues whatsoever.
buy a solid filter/oil and then focus on your tires, air filters, plugs and any number of other things that have so much influence on driving pleasure and longevity.
Why do you think a Lexus OEM oil filter is any better than say, a Motorcraft?
The LS430 has been almost universally accepted as one of the great cars ever made. I don't believe the Lexus engineers would decide to put an inferior oil filter on their great creation.
