Just recently my car started to have rough massage chair like vibrations in idle // in drive mode.
It's been about 35k miles since I have installed the rr racing. Originally had minor vibration and never bugged me.
But just a few weeks ago as mentioned it became a massage chair in the car.
Hoping something did not break or wear down.
Manual mode shifts are very delayed and have that wobbling feel from the engine (like poor manual driving)
Unfortunately I have had a back ache recently and haven't looked under to see if something came loose or dislodged.
Any tips what I should check or look for would be appreciated!
Apologies for not answering your question on what to look for, as I’ve just recently installed the RR racing engine mounts and the “massage chair at idle” has been present since the beginning.
It doesn’t feel healthy for the entire car so when time permits, I’m going to install new OEM engine mounts and not deal with the vibration issue....

Start with the mounts. Check for defects and make sure they are torqued down. Check transmission mount, but the latter is unlikely.
Then check your engine for poor running. Any misfires? Does the car just need tuned up because it’s running rough?
Well, all you have to do to see what’s going on with stock mounts is open the hood and rev the engine. You will see how much it moves. When you are actually driving and transitioning from acceleration to engine braking it moves even more.
So anytime your inputs as a driver are being dampened like that, the slop takes away from the precise feel of the chassis, in a similar way that a soft & wobbly suspension would.
Of course, while it would be nice to eliminate all engine movement, it’s not practical because that would lead to excessive vibration. Our mounts reduce engine movement by 60-70% (compared to new OE mounts) without excess vibration. The only time you might feel any minor vibration is a idle in drive, but it’s very minor.
We are working on other parts for the ISF that have a similar goal, coming out in April.

Rafi, anything more on these other parts that you spoke of?

Did you end up going back to the stock mounts?.......curious as to why your experience with vibration was so much worse than others that have installed these mounts?

Good question, there's only one way for the engine mounts to be bolted on and if the bolts were not tightened to spec, there would be more issues. So I am certain that the engine mounts are installed correctly as I checked 3x upon install.
I have not yet installed OEM engine mounts back on, for the "extremely rough idle" issue with the RR Racing engine mounts, I leave the parking lights on so that it raises the idle by about 200-300 rpms which lessens the vibration significantly.
Turning the AC on also raises idle too.
I will purchase new OEM engine mounts in the near future.
I have experienced the exact same massage chair at low idle 500rpm. When any accessory is on, IE headlights, heat or a/c, rpm at 750rpm little to no vibration.
Not 100% sold on these yet as i only have 1,000 plus miles on them. I do like the more direct feel and also the motor isn't rubbing my passenger side header anymore on left turns.
If the mounts are not tight *enough* there will actually be less vibration. So if you are getting vibration your mounts are probably tightened correctly. With that said my 2012 idle is 750-800rpm, unless something with the RR tune and SC modifies it. How are you guys having a 500rpm idle?

Turn off ac, turn off headlights, put gear into drive with brake on. 500 rpm idle and massage will follow.
After about a weeks worth of driving i cant help but love these things. Then again my mounts were shot to ****.

But holy hell, it's a night and day difference in gear at idle with no AC/Headlight load.
Not sure how others here stated a slight increase in idle vibration, it's pretty bad compared to OEM...the whole car shakes like a massage chair and everything rattles (as other have stated.)
Odd thing is that when in gear in Reverse, the idle vibration isn't as bad, like more than 75% less compared to in 1st gear at idle.
AC or headlights in 1st gear on at idle feels much better, but easily more than 50% more vibrations compared OEM engine mounts.
I am positive that everything was correctly bolted back on as I triple checked all bolts/nuts when reinstalling.
- Upsides: the car does feel more planted overall once it gets moving. Gear "shock" upon shifting is much less under hard throttle, so car does feel more connected when up/down shifting.
Will keep the RR Racing engine mounts as is for now, but might go back to OEM since they will last 70-100k miles without the harsh idle vibration issue.
Just had these mounts installed last week with my starter since the subframe was going to have to be dropped anyway. My experience so far echoes everything said above^^ the vibration when in gear at idle without lights or accessories is noticeable but it doesn't bug me as all you have to do is flip on your parking lights to raise your rpm and the vibration minimizes by 80% or throw the car in neutral at stoplights during the day to raise the idle and it basically goes away.
To be honest most of the time I drive my car it's at night and with the lights on the vibration is very little and not an annoyance to me IMO but YMMV depending on how sensitive you are to NVH. Like others have stated it makes the ISF feel like an old school muscle car with some vibration making it's way into the cabin but not to intrusive. I think it fits with how my car is modified and plays well with it's personality on throttle. Speaking of throttle it's definitely more responsive from the drivetrain as the slack has been taken away and is immediately transferred into forward motion through the driveshaft to the wheels😎
Been driving the car for the last week. normally the car sits except every other week.
the mount noise is noticeable, but soo tolerable. i honestly don't even notice it that often. i actually thought the vibration noise was from the abs pump, since it was only happening while in gear and at stop lol.
