I have a 2018 IS350 AWD F-Sport. When I enter my VIN into the Lexus Software website it tells me I have an update available. The filename is 15LWENNA-AB01_003.kwi, which matches the "Model ID" as shown in the Software Update section of the infotainment screen, but the update says it was released in November 2016 which predates my 2018 IS. Color me confused.
Currently my car shows the following:
- Model ID: 15LWENNA-AB01
- Hard No.: 86130-53G40
- SAM ID: BAAAAEWWSY
- Navigation: A11A7000
- Operating System: 17.P460
So what is the current software version I should be running? And why is this unnecessarily confusing?

Over the years Lexus has had several firmware updates for the navigation system in various vehicles.
As the service bulletins usually cover a range of vehicles, this is where the confusion has come in.
In the pic you provided, the LX570 from 2016 to 2020 is actually eligible for the update (not just 2016), and every LX570 from 2016-2020 will get the same update.
The same update also applies to 2017-2020 IS300/200t and 350.
The very first firmware update available to the LX, GS, LS, and RX was available in November 2016...as per your pic.
The most current update was made available September 2020...hence why there is one available for your vehicle.
For whatever reason they simply did not update the release date on the website.
The correct filename for your vehicle update software is 15LWENNA-AB01_006.kwi.
This will bring your firmware from A11A7000 to A11A8020.
Wait….. so I have an 2017 IS 300. When I check for updates on the Lexus site it always says there are NO updates available. However when I look at the 2017 IS 350 it says there is an update available.
Are you saying that I can apply the IS350 firmware to the IS300 system? They are the same file?

It is the same file.
Toyota builds into the firmware file a verifier that confirms the version of the firmware on the vehicle before updating.
Therefore you can't update the vehicle with the wrong file...i.e. installing RX firmware into an IS, and you also can't downgrade the firmware.
Also most firmware updates are for navi equipped vehicles. There were some for non-navi vehicles, which once again, you can't accidentally install due to the verification process that occurs.

Appreciate your response! Was expecting a higher level of clarity and professionalism from a manufacturer of this size and scope.
Any idea why the only file it will only allow me to download is the previous _003 version as opposed to the _006?
Could it be that I'm actually a version behind _003 so it needs _003 before it will let me install _006?
And I do have Navigation if that makes a difference.

They simply may not have posted the newest file to the website yet.
In reality they don't have to post any firmware files online...they do it as a courtesy, but obviously it's not a top priority to maintain it.
I would suggest contacting Lexus US head office and request they either send you the most current file, or update the website with the it.
You can also get the file from your local dealer if they are willing to copy it to a USB stick. It's only 107MB.

Hi. I have a 2016 GS (350 F-Sport w Nav) and my firmware updated from A11A5100 to A11A5770
The file that the Lexus Download site chose for me when entering VIN is 15LWENNA-AB01_0003.kwi, is that incorrect, should I try updating to the 15LWENNA-AB01_0006.kwi?
Since I have the 12in screen I believe the 0006 is the right version but its not available on the website.

hi Hi, So i have 2016 rx350h and the OS and Navi are old. Can I update them? If there is an update, do you mind sharing them please?
Does anyone have or know where I can find 15LWENNA-AB01_0006.kwi update? Apparently this is the update I need for my unit https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...81738-9999.pdf but I cannot find it on the Lexus website anywhere... I can only find 0003 which is not valid for my unit. I am still on version A1##5570 and am experiencing the exact issue.
