The 2IS rear brakes were a bad design and prone to seizing, hence they were scrapped...live and learn.
If only they were German.

Dont know if it is BS or not, but the dealer told me that the door lock actuators are prone to failing, but the newer replacements are better now. Thing that sucks though, is that a bad actuator can possibly keep your remote unlock function from working, so you end up having to use your key shank to unlock your door.

65K on a 14' is350 rwd and I now do 10k every six months for my new job. no issues not even the well advertised excessive brake pad issues and excessive front tire wear.
Some interior rattles but nothing else. Speaking of which my 60k big boy $1300 service is due

They are prone to failing. I doubt they've changed anything about them either as this has been ongoing, not just the IS, but most Toyotas and Lexus' for years and they seemingly just turn a blind eye to it.

I am guessing because of this known issue the 60K service also comes with all 4 calipers will be serviced and floating pins changed and re-greased.

I had a '94 Lexus. Same issue.

Seriously not a big deal though in the grand scheme of things.

the other day i did feel some weird surging/jerking. it happened 4-5 times. i immediately thought boost regulator. but it hasn't came back and hasn't happened since.
I believe i am on my 4th regulator and so far i haven't had any issues.

Hesitation when accelerating above 3000rpm on Lexus NX

FAULT:

We have a customer with a 2015 Lexus NX 200 who is complaining that they have a hesitation when accelerating above 3000 rpm. There are no trouble codes stored in the ECM fault memory. We have experienced the hesitation on road test but have not been able to locate the fault in the workshop.

FIX:

This fault affects several Lexus models with 8AR-FTS engine code up to 12/16. The fault is due to an unsatisfactory design of the turbocharger (TC) wastegate regulating valve. Inspect the production number on the TC wastegate regulating valve (see Fig 2.1). If the production number is before 16 T 217, replace the TC wastegate regulating valve with a modified version . Carry out a road test to confirm fault has been rectified.

This is the service bulletin that CL member Patchez posted.

There's an update to that bulletin now dated November 29, 2018 (i'm pretty sure that's the exact date...definitely end of 2018 though). The regulator gets replaced with an updated hose. I believe the hose goes from the regulator to the intake...it's pretty long.

What exactly is surging and how can I feel it? Sometimes when I first drive the car and it's not fully warm yet and when i mash the gas hard on an unprotected left turn, the car kind of jerks a bit.

Adding mirrors to the list. see peoples posts in the past week. things are heating up.

the surge the car will jerk repeatedly. you'll see boost gauge fluctuate rapidly even with constant throttle input.

1 post does not an epidemic make.
Maybe you should hurry and unload your IS before it starts falling apart!! That's really the safest thing for you to do.

edit 2: added links to first page for people to reference. Note I only mention problems where multiple people reported. not one-off incidents. So the links are just 1 of more or many posts out there.

So link one more for the mirror glass issue so we can see who else is reporting it. So far there is only one for IS.

Are there DIY instructions on doing these repairs? So far no problems with mine but I'd like to be prepared. Door lock actuator seems like something I could probably do myself.
