My experience:
I call them up and they said since my car is not CPO I only get the VSA extended no GC. I told them I bought a 3rd party extended warranty and that VSA is pointless. After some back and forth they allow me to fax my extended warranty (for proof) so they can cancel my VSA and send me the GC. Currently waiting for a definite answer on the GC after faxing my warranty. Hope for the best :-/

+ without any extended warranty

Have not contacted any dealership regarding the recall.
called, 800 872 5398, told her I received the recall letter and wanted to know about the gift card. She asked me for the VIN, then told me it shows car was purchased this year (2011). Told her car was bought used few years ago and I have the title under my name ever since I bought the car. After I was put on hold, she tells me $1500 GC towards lease/new purchase will come first then $500 GC will arrive.

Didn't expect too much but decided to give them a call anyways.
Hope everything goes well so I can buy those $3 clips under the hood and not feel bad about it lol.

If you got the letter, give them a call and see what they say.
worst if could happen is no.

p.s. she didn't mention anything about extending my warranty.

Ok let get it clear? so this recall only works with IS350 model's not IS250 because my Brother has 2006 IS250 but he has not heard of this recall at all? just wanted to get some clarification on this one.! thanks!

Okay, I bought my IS350 (2006) used in July of 2010. I had called last week (800-25LEXUS) and had them update their database. Dropping the car at my local dealer tomorrow to get the recall done. Just called back, and spoke to Tammy. She checked and said that I did qualify for the $500 gift card, and that the only reason I hadn't received the card or any info was because their database had just been updated. She said that I would receive the giftcard within the next 30-60 days.

 

Just got off the phone with Lexus.
A lady told me that because I didn't purchase the extended warranty Lexus gave me that instead of 500 gc.

She asked which one would I prefer...
So she puts a note on my account to see if they can change it to a 500 gc and that a specialist would call me back if they can change it....

she also told me that you should get a 1500 certificate towards a new car with either a 500 gc or extra warranty...


according to her u get 1500 certificate and 500gc OR 1500certificate and extra warranty...

 

I called and for some reason they want me to fax a copy of my registration... wtf?

 

Dropped the car off yesterday, and picked it up today. Runs smooth and purrs like a kitten. Will have more to say after driving some more tomorrow. The Service Manager said that I may quaify for an exteded powertrain warranty as well, but he wasn't there when I picked it up. Have to call back tomorrow to get the details on that.

 

I got my VISA $500 giftcard last week.

 

I am stoked over the $500, but don't want to wait 60 days. 99% sure I am spending mine on HKS exhaust, and now I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas!

 

I brought a used IS350 half year ago, and i did the spring recall over a month ago, but right now i still not receive the $500 gift card. just wanna know will i get the gift card? or i have to be the first owner?

 

I don't think they just mail it out because you had the recall done. I called Lexus and set up the recall, then called back a week later about the gift card. The rep I spoke to the 2nd time put me on hold several times, asked a bunch of questions, and then told me I would be getting the gift card within 30-60 days. Did you call 1-800-25LEXUS about it, or have you been talking to the dealer that did your recall? I called the Lexus corporate number.

 

It will come. I had the recall done in November and haven't received card yet. When I called Lexus a few weeks ago, they said Feb/March all of the cards should be out.
