Default Intermittant Ready lamp

Ok just for the last week or so when the ignition switch is turned to start position the Ready lamp does not come on. Just all of the warning lamps. After a second flip of the switch the Ready comes on. Has anyone had such a failure? I suspect the ignition switch or start relay...but not sure. This is on a 2008 RX400h with 166k miles.

Check the 12 volt battery for actual 12 volt power, I bet it is a little low and that will cause the symptom you have.

I just had my battery replaced 10 minutes ago by a AAA affiliate. $107 out the door and the car is rolling. I used a multimeter to test the voltage yesterday as the power windows took about 20 seconds to get the window up (it usually takes about 4), the voltage read out at 8.47V. The new battery registered 12.64V and all is well again.

I should note that this morning, the battery was so far gone that none of the electronics worked. I had to use the mechanical key lock to unlock the driver side door. When the 12V goes, it goes fast!

Yup my battery was shot, two cells measured less than 75% charge. Voltage was at 11.9 volts but dropped to 10.7 volts....Installed new Costco Battery and Ready condition is good. Just hope there are no other issues, will give a week of trials to find out.

I just posted this in another forum and I know you already bought the battery but Yellowtop is the way to go.

"I have said it in many posts about batteries...But the best purchase I made on this car was an Optima Yellowtop. The regular tiny 12v batteries would always die if I didn't drive the car at least every other day....I was jumping the car ALL THE TIME. But once I got the Yellowtop, I could go a week or two and not have any problem starting it. It is about $100 more than the regular batteries, but SOOOO worth the cost!"

We have left our car for over 12 days and have not had the issue you talked about. That tells me there is something wrong that is putting excessive drain on the system. The battery I replaced was around 5 years old.

Nope. I had it tested at the dealership and I tested it myself because I didn't believe them when they said that nothing was wrong. But my car was drawing right below 50 ma when the car was off. The normal range is anything 50 or below. So it was on the high end, but still in the normal range.

One thing I have done is change to LED bulbs in the overhead, and anything that can be left on. That way if wife forgets to turn a lamp off the drain is reduced.
