Windshield Replacement
Earlier this week, a stonechip in my windshield propagated into a 3 foot long crack, so a replacement is required. Has anyone else needed a replacement windshield? If so, did you go with an OEM or with an equivalent replacement (like Safelite)?
Nothing like OEM, just had mine done at the dealer and it's perfect again.
Go Lexus OEM only. Many will say "OEM" but they are not. There are several recent threads you really need to read before getting glass replacement. Do a search on "windshield replacement" and "Safelite" before you make your choice. I will only say I wouldn't recommend Safelite to my worst enemy. You can go cheap and be sorry later. Or you can buy Lexus OEM and avoid problems later.

Wife travels for a living and we have had one replacement that if I recall was not OEM. Just took another stone which has caused another small crack. We are waiting for it to spread before the next replacement.
I've had horrible experience w/ Safelite and great experiece w/ Lexus and OEM glass. However, the glass can set you back 1200-1400 or more, which is much higher than Safelite. I have zero deductible glass coverage on my insurance, though, so it makes the choice to use Lexus a little easier.

I have Travelers in NY. I don't think all states have an option for zero deductible glass, so it probably varies depending on where you live. I've unfortunately had to use the coverage 3 times in the last 4 years.
I had bad experience with aftermarket and wish I should have gone with OEM . After 3 aftermarket replacement windshields they finally got it right and it stopped leaking ; so my recommendation is OEM ..
