I guess this boils down to the question... would you buy it again, knowing everything you currently know.

Yes I would. Unfortunately there's nothing out there that can match it's functionality, flaws and all.

However, I hear a faster 6 core version is coming (PX6) so you can try and wait and see if it gets made and sold. Or just wait for a sale in the sub $500 range.

Thanks for the info! I will reach out to Phoenix again tomorrow and see if I can get info on the PX6 model. Will post if they have any updated info.

My OEM headunit is starting to randomly black out or sometimes reboots. Really hoping a vender like Phenix gets just the last few bugs worked out. So is it safe to say that provided you send them Vin # and/or pic of setup:
- OEM rear backup cam now works?
- Air filter selection?
- Android screen mirror?
- I assume one has a choice to choose Android auto or screen mirror when you have both options (they include Android auto module)
- choice of bootup image?

There is also a unit with ***** at the bottom?

- backup camera is not 100% compatible with the headunit, voltages are different so you'll need to do some hacking (there's an extensive thread about this)
- you retain all A/C climate settings from before I'm fairly certain
- all screen mirrors are very bad, I haven't gotten mine to work consistently, just install android apps directly to headunit
- yes you can change the bootup image and everything but it's not intuitive and need a custom app
- **** unit is available but the theme looks uglier IMO and I'm not sure what the ***** actually do

To add on.
Android screen mirroring works but you can't control the phone from the screen.
If we are talking about the dongle, Android Auto is not worth the hassle. It lags and studders way too much when using nav and listening to a streaming service. You're better off with carplay in half-screen mode.
I did change my bootup image but with the apk that Pheonix provides. It's not a full-screen bootup image.

Thanks for the quick replies. I was looking at Pheonix in hopes of getting good support, but its Rhino that offers the 4G ram version and IMO ram is a big deal. Mine is a 2006 and reading into the other threads I have some additional wiring to do in regards to the backup camera. Another interesting thing about that thread (but was an 06 GS) was a running lights/head lights input to dim the screen. You would think that would have been built in.

It should be a full screen boot up if you size to the right resolution

I imported a file that was the proper resolution so it wouldn't stretch.

Can anyone help me?

I have the 10" Tesla style head unit, but have only just got around to buying a reversing camera. I have been able to test the camera by running the wires outside of the car, but can't for the life of me figure out how to route the wires from the trunk lid to the head unit.

I have a 2006 GS450H and there doesn't appear to be any obvious way to route through the hybrid battery compartment.

Has anyone done this themselves, and can offer some tips?

Thanks.

Before we go any further, did you get the tesla style head unit with the fiber optic connector? I think the 2010-2011 uses fiber optics.

To run the wires from the rear to the front, you will need to pull the interior panel trim. Pull the rear seat bottom cushion up, unbolt the upper side bolster, then lift the bolster's bottom portion toward the front then up to unhook. Fish the wires there and through the channels between the door sill and the floor pan.

Question on your boot up time with the 4gb of ram.

Hi,
Here you can find the steps of how I connected the OEM camea to the head unit:

Sorry not installed yet. I just unboxed it yesterday but didn't have time to install. Will likely put it in this coming weekend. It came with a lot of adapter harnesses and a canbus decoder box + android "DVD" (but apparently Android Auto/Apple Carplay) converter box thing.

Excited for Android Auto- I had it in a rental and I liked it.
