The latter. No air bag light, but my hazard lights do not work. I just emailed Rhino a picture of my canbus decoder and a picture of a connector from the OEM harness that went into the OEM head unit that is not 100% not utilized- the new Telsa style HU's adapter harness has no interaction with this connector. This connector does not plug into the back of the OEM HU but to a harness that runs into the side- I bet this connector deals with buttons on the OE head unit that are somewhat not related to the radio, such as the hazards.

Another observation is just the simple lack of wires on the adapter harness. For example lets say an OEM connector that had plugged into the back of the OEM HU has 30 wires, the new HU's adapter harness only has about 8 wires- what the heck is getting cut out?

Either I got sent a non-navi non-2006 model non-USDM model, or these things are far far away from being ready for USDM adoption.

Worse yet, it does not seem to start on boot, one has to manually enable it every startup. So I'll be looking for yet another screen dimming app.
What I did was install TASKER, and have it launch screen filter and then waze on boot up. That helps with my automation.

Also, did you get a chance to test out if your unit is able to connect to a 5ghz wifi hotspot?

I avoid tasker- I never got the hang of it. I have hass.io at home, dable in python, regex on the daily- I can't stand nor get tasker.

Just checked, the unit does not get 5ghz.

That sucks that they cheap out on the 5ghz wifi upgrade, it's probably just like another $2 difference, 5ghz capability should be standard by now.

And for Tasker, Tasker is more built for the dummies (simplicity, but also supports advanced functions), just simple "if this, then that", kind of thing.

So for Tasker, you would just choose an event, like system bootup, then choose an activity, which would be to load screen filter app. Therefore, it becomes: At system boot>load screen filter app. Hope this helps.

P.S. Thanks for all the info on the new head unit.

So I ended up going with macrodroid, light-years beyond tasker's GUI in regards to intuitiveness.

Also re-formatted my USB so it can be read cause like you said, just a few dollars to license ntfs and exfat but nope.

I loaded up Phoenix autos boot image apk to change the boot but it just doesn't work. I noticed the unit came with a boot app but it also does not work. So boot is stuck with the IS300 (second gen) picture...

I really want to like this unit but everything has been such a challenge.

Do you have the GS unit? Email customer support and they can give you an APK that changes boot image

no I have the IS unit. I downloaded the apk from Phoenix but it doesn't seem to have an effect. I have a youtube vid from Rhino of basic unit operation, not a bad vid but IMO they must not sell that many to IS people, it seems news to them that it doesn't work with the rear cam right out of the box among other issues. Will link the video later from my phone.

Edit:. https://youtu.be/x96wHnoHpCI

Interesting note, they list an apk for Android auto, will dabble with that soon.

1= copy the original image its a bmp file
2=then bring it into photo shop ,the image will turn up side ways
3=then lay your image over it and use that size witch is 1024x768
4 = then go into extra setting and it will show up in logo

I have the 10" Tesla style head unit, but have only just got around to buying a reversing camera. I have been able to test the camera by running the wires outside of the car, but can't for the life of me figure out how to route the wires from the trunk lid to the head unit.

I have a 2006 GS450H and there doesn't appear to be any obvious way to route through the hybrid battery compartment.

Has anyone done this themselves, and can offer some tips?

Thanks.

Have you thought about going wireless?

What was the file path for the original image?

Well, I decided to upgrade to the newer PX6 Tesla model. Now just playing the waiting game.

Anyone interested in the PX3 Tesla model once I swap them over? It was purchased on Nov, 2018, so not even 1 year old. For a low $150 and it's yours.
