Tesla Syle Headunit
I had the px6 and it was nothing but problems. I don’t know about fast since the damn unit freezes everyday. Usually in the morning. It’ll change sources on it own then freeze. When it works, it’s great! Good thing the seller was cool and refunded my money. I love the way it look but I can’t be resetting the radio everyday. So I went and modded my old unit to fit a pioneer double din.

Does anyone have an mcu update file for the 3GS rockchip unit they can upload for my reference? My unit is marked (zxw 860b) and does NOT have the two physical *****. I've made some improvements to the stock 4.4 rom that was sent to me from the manufacturer (debloat, root, google apps removed, tweaked touch sensitivity, sysctl.conf, build.prop etc.). Looking for the stock mcu image so I can have a better understanding of how this unit functions.
The idea behind these units is fantastic but they lack processing power. The low RAM situation isnt a big deal, 2GB is enough once when gapps are removed. It's the read and write speed to internal storage which is a problem. I ran the same benchmark on a POCO F1 and Galaxy S10+ to have something to compare to, and the phones are posting read and write speeds at least 10x higher than my unit with the rkpx3 2/64 board. Minimizing writes to disk, not having google services and other pointless background tasks seems to have improved the responsiveness and performance of the unit somewhat, but returns are diminishing.

Apparently the engineers are looking into my problem. They asked for a video of it happening but I can't trigger it - it just does it occasionally.
I might try leaving BT off so my phone is not connected and see what happens.
Other than that, running the CarWebGuru launcher makes for a much better experience and Poweramp is the best music player I've tried (although it needs some tweaks for in-car use).
I can't get Poweramp to launch on boot yet (best is several seconds after the home screen starts) but it's just one manual click from home.
ES File Explorer (despite its annoyances and ban from Play Store) is still the best. I've tried several others and they're either feature-light in comparison or buggy.

Has anyone experimented with USB devices?
First I tried a large SSD which it didn't recognize so I tried 32 GB SD cards. I bought two USB adaptors but it can only see one at a time. They definitely work individually on each USB cable, just not simultaneously. No big deal since there's plenty of internal memory but just annoying having two ports but only one being usable.

Can anyone help me?
I have the 10" Tesla style head unit, but have only just got around to buying a reversing camera. I have been able to test the camera by running the wires outside of the car, but can't for the life of me figure out how to route the wires from the trunk lid to the head unit.
I have a 2006 GS450H and there doesn't appear to be any obvious way to route through the hybrid battery compartment.
Has anyone done this themselves, and can offer some tips?
Thanks.

You don't have to remove the sunshade, but you do have to remove all the paneling. From there at the back where the rear window meets the bottom you're going to see holes. These route directly into the trunk.
To see where the holes pass through, you'll have to remove the top trunk liner and the lid liner. I routed the cable through the wire belt ( don't forget to give it enough slack) and took out the existing rear camera.
To place the new camera where the old one is will also be tricky. You're going to need some watertight material to prevent water from coming in. I rolled up two pieces of thick rubber foam and stuffed it into the side, and squeezed the wire between the gap of the two rolls. Because it was so packed, the friction was high enough that I didn't even need to screw anything in.
Good luck! I wish I had pictures
Thanks for the reply! That sounds like a huge pain in the ****. I’m still trying to figure out the OEM camera route for now, and then might have to look into a wireless one, as someone suggested above.
