Side Mirror Issue

Ok... so this is a very minor issue, but after a few weeks of dealing with it, it's getting a bit annoying.

The mirrors tilt down towards the ground when I put the car in reverse, which is exactly what they're suppose to do. Though a few weeks ago I noticed that the driver side mirror only tilts down maybe 1 degree or so, it hardly moves at all... while the passenger side mirror tilts all the way down then comes back to it's normal position.

When I manually move the mirror by using the controls it moves all around without issue, only when i put the car in reverse does it not tilt all the way down..

Is there any way to re-program or reset the mirros to start working properly?

there was just a thread on this. your mirror needs to be replaced because the gears are stripped. there is no way to replace the gears, you'll need a whole mirror.

Hmmm... that would be a bit odd, because I can move the mirror all the way around using the drop down box controls. Only in reverse does it not move all the way down like it use to.

I'm starting to think that getting the extended warrenty may of been a good idea.

what year is your car? if its less than 4yrs old (from the manufactured date) and under 50k then the lexus warranty is still good.

My car just started having the same problem. I had a 2007 GS450h before that developed this problem two years into its life. Had both mirror assemblies replaced. Now looks like this one needs the same thing.
