Default Issues with mirror adjusting when reversing

Does anyone have issues with adjusting their mirrors when in reverse? Whenever I put reverse, the right side mirror adjusts down only a little bit, then I adjusted to my desired position. When back in park, the mirror doesn't adjust back to the same position. Does anyone know what's the issue?

After you adjusted the mirror to your liking, make sure you save the settings in 1 of 3 memories ...

From what I understand, you can't adjust the mirror for the reverse.
The mirror tilts down when you put the car in reverse, but you cant adjust how much it moves.

What's the point of the mirror moving then if I can't see my wheels when reversing...

You can disable the feature that makes the mirrors tilt down in reverse. I hate that feature and find it less than useless.

Page 152 of the 2018 manual:

Quote:When either “L” or “R” of the mirror select switch is selected, the outside rear view mirrors will automatically angle downwards when the vehicle is reversing in order to give a better view of the ground.

To disable this function, select neither “L” nor “R”.

■ Adjusting the mirror angle when the vehicle is reversing With the shift lever in R, adjust the mirror angle at a desired position. The adjusted angle will be memorized and the mirror will automatically tilt to the memorized angle whenever the shift lever is shifted to R from next time. The memorized downward tilt position of the mirror is linked to the normal position (angle adjusted with the shift lever in other than R). Therefore, if the normal position is changed after adjustment, the tilt position will also change. When the normal position is changed, readjust the angle in reversing.

The adjustable reversing position mirrors became standard (I think) in 2013. Prior years just had an arbitrary
couple of degrees dip. Note: those newer Lexi that have the adjustable angle do Not become memorized to
the 1/2/3 driver positon system, all drivers get the same reversing positions. Clutchless is correct, selecting
neither L or R will disable the dipping function when backing Up a driveway.

That's what I did, yet it's not memorized to my desired position. I bought to the dealer for them to teach me how to adjust the mirror. After it didn't work, they said there might be something wrong with the mirror adjustment. But before I have them diagnose the issue, I wanted to ask the forum first.

Example: Let's say I want to adjust my mirrors. The mirrors are currently sitting at 90 degrees. When I put it in reverse, the mirror angles down by 10 degrees (now 80 degrees). I adjust my mirror to 45 degrees. Then when I put it back in park, it goes back by 10 degrees (now 55 degrees). No matter how I adjust my mirrors in park or reverse mode, it always goes up and down by 10 degrees. What's the issue? On my second gen Lexus RX350, I don't have this issue.

I have it in my 2010 RX 450h. I did install the mirrors and the drivers control from the stock manual folding ones but as I recall. the Tilt feature worked prior to the auto folding mirror.
When the L or R light is on the mirror control, the mirrors will automatically tilt when in reverse. I love this feature as I have to parallel street park. It helps you see a curb so you don't grind the crap out of your rims.

Did you reinstall the whole mirror assembly again?

Yes. I had replaced the mirror innards with the automated folding mirrors.

Did you mean the motors? How much did it cost? Is it a DIYable job?

Default Backup Outside Mirrors Never Tilt Down

I have a 2015 ES350 without programmable seats. I understand from another thread that if you don't have progammable seats, you can't adjust the backup mirror tilt. Does that mean that they never tilt at all, or just that I can't adjust them? At the present time, I can't program them, even with the R/L selector switch. They never move, other that when I adjust them for driving.

If you have an ES350 then you posted in the wrong forum. This is the RX350 forum and the mirror operation may be different on different models. Here is a link to the 2015 ES350 forum. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es-...2013-2018-247/

Across all Lexus models, if the car does not have the Memory Settings option, then it also does not have Reversing Position mirrors.

Good to know. I hate that feature and prefer the mirrors not tilt when in reverse.
