There are always two MAF/MAPs, 4 upstream 02 sensors, 4 downstream, and two sets of knock sensors etc....there are also two crank sensors and 4 cam sensors and the car can run with half of them dead as the ECUs can share data and cover for lost signals.

It's unlike anything else and I absolutely love how overkill it all is!
‘Thanks. I didn’t know that. I read the Century can run half mode as well, wonder if all twelve cylinders can?

‘not all S-class models were AMG models. at the time of Lexus inception, a few years later Mercedes came out with a twelve cylinder S class that was three times the price of the LS400.

d.
One has to also consider that Germans were many years ahead in that the offers short wheel base and long wheelbase. I think MB was 10+ years ahead with the wheelbase. BMW had dual option wheelbase in the 1980s I believe. Mercedes also had 4matic many years earlier. In hindsight, I do give credit to Lexus for the 600hl. That was a good effort. With mechanical all wheel drive and hybrid V8. I give em that.

They don’t make any such type of vehicle anymore, and didn’t when I got my S560. I honestly don’t have any interest in a V12…

Tale a Maybach for instance, I would much rather have the regular body S Class. The interior fittings and such I would take.

But honestly I am completely happy with what I’m driving, there really isn’t any other car I would rather have. I’d rather my car had the exclusive Napa interior and the Burmester 3D audio…

The S600 exists and it has all that plus other exclusive features and finishes

Striker..........Steve and I often disagree on a lot of vehicle-related issues, but he has a point here. Like it or not, sport-orientation is simply not for everyone. I can completely understand where he is coming from. I myself dislike stiffness in the ride-comfort/underpinnings/suspension/tires, and couldn't care less if a vehicle doesn't run 0-60 or the quarter-mile in NHRA fashion.

They absolutely do not make an S600 any longer, they sell the V12 but only in the Maybach. S65 was a V12 The S600 was no longer sold in the W222 body for the refresh in 2018. So when I got mine the only way to get the V12 was to go Maybach or S65.

In the W223 body there is again no S600, there is an S680 but that’s only in the Maybach.

The regular S600 was discontinued here before his car was made. Very low sales.

Doesn't feel like a monday for some reason, probably because I been working 7 days a week! Lol

See something fun, please post it up for us!

Saw some cool stuff but I leave my phone in the car when I'm shopping and missed some good ones lately because no pics!

this may just be like when squidward hated krabby patties... if you can drive an S600 and still genuinely say that no part of the experience coaxed or appealed to you at any point, then this convo can officially be put to bed lol

i'm sure you once never thought the twin turbo V8 was something you "needed" either, that the LS 460 was plenty of car as it is!

I mean sometimes it's a Goldilocks thing where the middle option is just right.

I didn't even consider an m550 because the 540i suits my purposes just fine and I didn't feel like taking on the hassle of a BMW V8. i have no doubt the car would have been a proper riot to drive.

oh believe me lol i'm not saying he should get rid of his S560, but it's tough for me to accept that a car enthusiast and S-class driver could still have zero interest in a hypothetical scenario of a completely hassle free S600 where costs were no object

of course in real life i agree the S560 is about the most capable, balanced, all-round premier luxury car one can get without becoming excessive and impractical

I also am in the camp, regular V8 S-Class is more than enough. No interest in AMG models, not really.

Just make sure it has the AMG appearance package, however.

But a hassle free experience is indeed a VERY strong hypothetical where cars with 24 ignition coils (among other insane complexities) are involved.

hell yea it is just look at this monster... but hey only 3 valves per cylinder lol

i've personally always been partial to the CL600 from this era, the V12 coupe is probably the most "move over peasant" car one can get haha
