Yeah, for some reason it works on a Mercedes but its hard to imagine most modern cars with one and it looking good.
Another reason it's so special. When we were kids pretty much everything (or, lots) had an ornament though now that I think about it, but of course none were the star. It was just as special then but maybe more so now because other than RR and Bentley that's it, nobody else could get away with a hood ornament. You notice I always compliment your pics where I see the star lol. I've driven S-Classes and E-Classes, it is basically my favorite part...just seeing that 3 pointed star constantly.

They did, and I loved hood ornaments when I was a kid too. Yep, I've noticed!
My Dad had an 87 Chrysler Fifth Avenue that had a crystal hood ornament that was pretty cool, very 80s lol
I too think its a mistake for Lexus to chase other less established carmakers and change the way they badge their vehicles in the back. It shows weakness and a lack of confidence in their brand.
As for the Mercedes hood ornament, I love it. When I was a kid I LOVED hood ornaments, sitting behind the 3 pointed star at the end of the hood is really something special...
The generation behind you and I are who Lexus is appealing to with the Lexus script. Those who are older and those who are established, the Lexus branding is less relevant.

I still think its chasing whats new and "on trend" and great brands don't do that.

Hah! My Grandparents had a Chrysler with that one, too. Everything had them, Oldsmobiles, Chevys...pretty much most/all American cars. I think maybe a few Japanese cars from the 80s had them but I could be wrong.

Smart brands evolve. Lexus is less well know that people thing. Toyota, Mercedes and Chevrolet for example are brands that are far more well known and far more valuable. Lexus is stale….this just brings more awareness

Yep, pretty much everything

What is an odd/interesting personal plate you've seen recently?
Recently can't think of any, but some of my favorites I've ever seen
Dodge Ram 1500 - DOGETHS (Dodge This)
Explorer - EXPLORN (Exploring)
SC430 - HES4GVN (He's for given)
RX350 - SHRKTNK (Shark Tank)
RSX Type-S - MNNMMNM (this was a buddy of mine's and it was to confuse law enforcement if he ever got pulled over )
