They sure are but I just don't like them, simply not my taste. I would rather have a Panamera any day instead since it has an 8
Very interesting.
I just assumed someone who likes Audi would like Porsche's too since they are both German styles.
No you got me wondering if they are different in ways that set them apart each to their own market and customer expectations.
Go easy on me, I'm completely ignorant about Audi's, but.......... -> why Audi and not Porsche??? (inquiring minds need to know).

Because Audi has a V8 or V10 in their top cars and I can't quite decide what Panamera I want lol! I like them but the 911 is just not "it" for me, I prefer driving C7s over them since the flat 6 just doesn't feel right.

Cool deal.
Couple more questions will bring me up to speed and hope I'm not imposing,
1) Fit and finish and overall feel, excluding the power train and things related to that, how do they compare?
2) Quality of paint and leather compared to Porsche?
3) Serviceability and availability of parts compared to Porsche?
Snuck that last one in there, make it 3 questions... lol

Thank you!
Fit/finish is firmly in favor of Porsche, they are actually as good as Lexus whereas with Audi I have to overlook some lack of attention to detail/quality. Engines are shared in many cases, the Porsche I am interested in overlaps in terms of engine with the D5 S8, trans is different.
Paint and leather is good on both but unless you are buying a special Audi color it's going to go to Porsche 99% of the time. There is also just a generally higher level of attention to detail on a Porsche product, makes sense since it's the step above Audi....
Parts are the main thing holding me back since they are 3x the cost in most cases with no overlap, that's the big holdup since there is no way around it.

Seems like nothing has changed there for Porsche.
My headlight motor was $400 and that was 20 years ago, special order from the dealer 60 miles away paid for in advance and then wait 3 weeks. lol
A headlight motor for a Pontiac was only $30.
In the Transporter movies I saw some high end Audi's.
The price looks ^ up there $$$ aka out of my price range.
They had a couple Audis at the track and a silver one passed me on hiway 101 one night heading up and over the hill from Mill Valley to the GG bridge like I was standing still. And I was having fun in my ol C6! Those of you who know this road know what an absolute curvy racetrack it can be when traffic is thin. AWD cars make it look sooo easy.
Porsche isn't really my thing, though I respect it as a brand.
I don't want a 6 cylinder vehicle for $200k is basically my issue. My die hard Porsche friend and I constantly argue over what is better, flat 6 or V-8.

The flat 6 is part of what makes a 911 a 911. Its not about one being "better" than another, they are different. Have you driven a 911? They are very special.

Oh I'm aware of that. My friend's 911 sounds good but not great, but it's definitely a special car.
I don’t think anybody is disputing that. I just like the Panamera design and look
I would love just a base 911 with minimal options and a manual, I couldn't even imagine the driving experience. But Porsche doesn't let you do that, you have to spend a lot of money on a certain package to get the stick. Porsche is the worst with nickel and diming. I went to price one out once online and my friend was silent when I showed him the MSRP of just the 911 I would want ..... minimal options and a manual transmission. Give me leather seats and a good stereo, that's about all I care about.

Of course they do. That "certain package" you're describing is the Carrera T, the second lowest of the twenty-six trims the 911 is available in. It costs just $10,500 (10%) more than a barebones 911 with no options, and includes most of the sporting-focused equipment from the S and GTS trims. Just none of the luxury features and larger engine/brakes from the uplevel models. But PASM, sport seats, 7MT, sport chrono, weight reduction (including rear seat delete), sport exhaust, GT steering wheel, and 20/21 inch wheels are all standard.
