The new Mercedes-AMG EQE will be wicked fast, boasting a 0–60mph acceleration of 3.2 seconds as a top speed of 149 mph with the Dynamic Plus package ...
Its dual electric motors put out 677 horsepower and 738 ft-lbs of torque when equipped with the AMG Dynamic Plus package and boost function.
Yup that's still .1 seconds 'slower' than base model s (3.1 spec).
You’ll notice Mercedes removed the “53” designation for this market. Unfortunately true AMG performance won’t be coming until the AMG.EA, MMA, and MB.EA platform vehicles come out in 2025 and beyond.

i suspect an amg eqe will cost a good bit less than the lucid air and model s plaid.
plus, i really don't care and obviously most don't about having a car with over 1000 hp which is unusable almost all of the time.
good for bragging rights though.
I think Mercedes just isn't there yet in development of these extra powerful cars or they don't want to overwhelm their ice offerings yet. It's not that much more to offer higher horsepower in EVs vs their regular products and efficiency is barely affected.
It will be interesting to see how manufacturers differentiate on power in the EV world and the pricing they offer. Here is an interesting fact...you know the difference between a Performance model Tesla and a standard AWD version? It's a software update and different tires, brakes, suspension. As manufacturers build their own EV motors, I bet they use the same one in their lower spec cars as their performance ones but with slightly cheaper inverters and batteries. Interesting times.

Agreed. The important note here is that Mercedes isn't producing all of these EV components inhouse and won't begin doing so until 2024/2025 with the small MMA platform cars. That's why I mentioned we're not going to see the true AMG performance potential until then. Additionally, these EVA2 platform cars are seriously heavy. This EQE is an absolutely pig on the scales and that's not helping anything. Look for that to be addressed later as well, although Mercedes are typically on the heavier side even with their ICE offerings.
I'm super curious to know what they're going to do with these initial EVs come facelift time.
what else is in the class? i do not believe an eqe competes with a model s or vice versa.
It will be similar in price to a Model S Plaid I bet, the AMG model. Bear in mind the EQS580 is similar in price to a Plaid, and the EQS AMG will be more.
