Agreed, no point in all these teasers. We already know what it will look like. A smaller EQS.

It doesn't look great but I would still buy it over a regular E class. The interior looks phenomenal and I bet it's whisper quiet in there.

Yup, basically a short wheelbase EQS.

What's really interesting is that Thomas says it looks the way it does, not because of aerodynamics or whatever PR Mercedes throws out, but because it's aimed primarily at the Chinese market and Chinese tastes. This isn't his theory- it's what he learned after speaking with Mercedes staff at the event.

One major disadvantage compared to the EQS though, just a regular trunk opening and not a hatch.

Somehow it looks better than the EQS. None of this means anything until Mercedes is willing to bring their EQ models to the US.

This page has a lot of details and also a long video of the new car (can't embed here).

They're definitely coming stateside. EQS is already on Mercedes's US site.

Of course, as Thomas previously mentioned, the primary market for these cars will be in China.

Another hideous EV.
Interior is nice though.

So was the EQC when it first debuted...

They havent brought that over, or the EQA.

From the mouth of Mercedes themselves:

Update 2/16/21 12:45pm ET: In an earlier version of this article it was reported that the 2022 EQS would go on sale this summer. A Mercedes spokesperson tells Car and Driver, “we look forward to celebrating the world premiere of the all-electric EQS luxury sedan this spring, which will be available in the U.S. in the fall of 2021."

So far I see nothing to suggest otherwise.

I am not suggesting the EQS isn't coming to America. Rereading my original post, I can see that what I wrote wasn't exactly what I meant to say. I meant that EQ needs to have a stronger push and presence in America than just a model or two and its outdent take much effort for Mercedes to bring all of them over. Do we even know if the EQE is coming?

The EQC was and EQA are stopgap electric cars Mercedes put out so they could immediately avoid fines in other markets and not completely cede market share to competitors. Mercedes ended up needing all EQC production for other markets and the EQA (and EQB) are not competitive enough to thrive here.

The dedicated EV platform cars (EQE, EQS, EQS SUV, and EQE SUV) are all arriving here in succession over the next two years. Dealers have already been trained on the EQS.

The chip shortage has delayed rollout by a few months but they are for sure coming to the US.
