The Aviator is indeed a Class-One piece of work, but we've had a lot of talk on Car Chat about the QC problems that it and the new Explorer have had at the Chicago plant. Many of them had to be re-sent from Chicago to the Flat Rock, MI plant (which used to build Mazdas) for major repairs, because the Chicago plant apparently couldn't handle it.

Ha! Have you priced their crap?! Overpriced plastic! Dollar for dollar, he would do better with another Pacifica!

One could argue the same with a Camaro

an aviator is probably $20K (or more) more than a Palisade.

Well because it's a different class of vehicle, 400hp and 415lbft vs 291hp and 262lbft, 5.0sec 0-60 vs 7.1sec, RWD vs FWD, it's physically larger. There's reasons the Aviator plays with X5's and GLE's and GV80's and not Palisades.

Yeah they are really nice, but they do feel smaller inside than the Palisade and are a good deal more expensive.

Compared to what? A Mustang... maybe - that boils down to personal preference. I paid pennies on the dollar for my Camaro (brand new 2 year old leftover at less than used price) will always get my money out of it. I wouldn’t touch a Lincoln with a 10ft pole! Even the Ford counterparts are overpriced.

Everything is about trade offs. Right now the only way to have the technology she wants is to get a crossover. Not buying another Pacifica.
With that said^^^^^ Doors for her= Sienna.....or a Expo......w/ the 3.5. I rented one of those a couple yrs ago, for hauling everyone when we visited my cousins in Coral Gables.

certainly, that's why i didn't think they were very comparable.

Oh wow, had no idea. Just figured they were similar size and the Aviator seems to be pretty luxurious from what I can see in pics. I sat in a Palisade earlier this year and was blown away at the interior quality - knowing the Aviator is that much more expensive just proves the extreme values Hyundai is offering IMO.

If I were going to spend Aviator money, I would want an Expedition for this vehicle. The additional space is more important to us than the luxuries of the Aviator.

An Expedition is way more than I want to spend, but if she likes the Expedition I would probably do it. Plenty of room, I would likely buy that and keep it for longer than we usually do.

DING!!! On a serious note, Hyundai & in particular Genesis, has caught & surpassed Lexus in the quality & value department. I have my eye on the new GV80. Nothing American comes close to it & Lexus has nothing modern that will compete against it. It will have a twin turbo V-6 & provide at least 5,000 lbs of towing & all with the outstanding Genesis interior & great tech. However, their dealer network is a real problem. 200 miles to the closest, fairly clueless dealer to me is not an incentive.

I am also on board with the Genesis. Can’t wait to test drive one!

So...there will be no compromise. The only vehicle she will accept is another Pacifica and she's fine to just keep this one. So, I'm washing my hands of it. She can service it and take care of it and handle all of that. I'll eventually replace the Lexus with something that we can travel with so I don't have to drive it.
