Its OK - the giant grill and weird steering wheel are big turn offs.

If they establish a dealer network which is a big IF especially with current climate - they may have some success. The new SUV will help.

They need to do better with Marketing - average luxury shopper has no idea about Genesis or that its a car brand.

Abbreviated version of the Motortrend presentation:

Price will start a hair under $50K- that's right in line with the now defunct GS. A bit of a price increase over the old G80 which started at $43K.

Interesting to hear about the 6 vehicle lineup for 2021, including that new SUV and EV. We already know about the GV80 and GV70, so will that SUV be the rumored GV90?
He mentioned the GV80 so the other suv is the GV70.

So 6 is 3 sedans, 2 suv's and an ev.

I like what I'm seeing so far but I wish they stuck with a standard gear **** instead of that wheel. Just seems unnatural and unintuitive to operate.
Also the grille just seems too loud and in your face.

After my experience with the GS450h, I wish there is a performance hybrid version of the G80. There is nothing like immediate torque at zero revs, instant overtaking ability but at the same time, no range anxiety of pure EVs.

Agree, Del Rosso's response and statement delivery was fairly cringe-worthy, especially with his constant repeating of each question to give himself more time to rethink his cookie cutter response. He's been in the industry a long time, but just so awkward in front of the camera.

In any case, hope they can do somethign like this again and actually show the vehicle, instead of just b-roll and exterior shots of Mark talking about it.

because going from P to D or R is so hard and such a big part of the driving experience.

There's nothing like having a TINY trunk either.

I would prefer a regular shifter too, but it’s not going to keep from buying a car i like

Front looks pretty good, still don't like the rear end treatment, it makes the side profile look odd, I think the side profile and rear end of the current G80 looks better but I will have to see the new one on the road.

A good read on the mechanical and NVH improvements compared to the previous gen. Don't understand too much of it but some gearheads here might find something of value.

Thx. Interesting!

it's very annoying that on the GV80 it's only shown as available on the very top engine/package.

Unfortunately there is fake engine noise through the speakers, but at least you can turn it completely off unlike the LS hybrid.

They did not hold back on the safety front. Nearly every safety intervention you can think of is on the new G80
