I agree and unlike the Japanese, way better engine option. At least the Koreans give you some grunt.

What's not to understand? The guy literally admitted that he hates all Korean cars and sees them all as cheap knockoffs. Willing blindness and deliberate ignorance can't be cured.

What the G80 reminds me the most of is actually the Jaguar XJ, which is also RWD with that swooping fastback look. And that came out before the A7 too.

Genesis models do look like a mix of stolen designs from many other cars. They certainly don't have their own design language.

This is a very strange forum, as it is very challenging to offer or mention any criticism about any of the Hyundai family of brands. That said, I don't remember if I commented on this new car. I am not sure if it has its own design language or not, I don't think the design in the pictures is as great as people on here are claiming, but the actual videos of the new car, the design does look good. I was lucky to see the new GV80 in Toronto, I think the interior is very good. I think the weakness is where the HVAC controls are located as well as the dials in the center console, but the dial was better than the remote touch from Lexus. The PRNDL dial was not very good. Overall, the GV80 interior and how it feels reminded me of the Lexus LC500, so if this G80 has anything like the materials, then Genesis has a big winner. The two engine offerings do look competitive, the smaller engine I think is better. I think it is disappointing that the power numbers of the new 3.5tt max out around 380hp, the Lexus LS with the same displacement achieves 416hp and Lincoln hits 400hp from their 3.0 and I think Infiniti clears 400hp....so the Koreans here are behind at being true leaders for engine tech, especially for a brand new motor. There also is no hybrid option either. Will this new G80 win comparison tests? YES. Is this new G80 an excellent achievement? YES. Does the new G80 have flaws? IT APPEARS IT DOES. Will the new G80 makes those who buy BMW, MB or Lexus badges switch? PROBABLY NOT

Sadly, bad timing for Genesis, the US auto market is going to crap because of COVID-19. And I do think Genesis really needs dealers to make their products sell well.

I've seen this car in person in South Korea. It's striking but long (i.e. hard to park I would think)

Not a fan of the two prong steering wheel though....

Tell me what Lexus's "own design language" is then outside of their predator maw.

I think what you mean to say is, "Genesis doesn't make their cars look like stretched sausage links that stay the same externally every generation like the German brands". Though the new G80 looks an awful lot like the old one, albeit lower and wider and with a bigger grille. But hey, if it's good enough for the Germans...

I really love this car! The styling is great and the interior is outstanding. This is now Genesis's technology leader with aluminum weight savings, new driver assist tech, and finally a massaging seat the even the G90 doesn't have. I'm not at all worried about it only having 375 hp. The current car with the 3.3 engine at 365 hp and 250 lb more weight is plenty fast. Launch timing is terrible though. With COVID-19 shutting down everything, new car sales have tanked and will likely remain so for quite a few months.

So you've been in Korea within the past week? Or are you thinking of the facelifted G90 which has been on roads in Korea already.

Not sure if this link has been posted. There is an interesting video within it talking about how the G80 came about design wise in under 5 minutes. It evokes the ghosts of the Lexus past. You end up forgeting what Lexus was all about and more intrigued by and drawn to the Genesis brand. Wow. Nice way to make a statement and be ahead of the curve.
