lol no That picture was in response to Yardie's comment above about smart watch integration on the new avalon. Lexus just posted that image on facebook saying its a new feature to lexus inform, and Im sure the toyota entune version has the same functionality.
I'm curious at the smart watch integration. Maybe as a key possibly? My 007 dreams are slowly coming to fruition

In general, I have no problem with car weight......IMO, the more weight, the better (within reason). All else equal, more weight on top of the suspension (as opposed to unsprung weight, which is below) means a smoother ride, and, on front-engined vehicles, more stability, better tracking, and, on FWD cars, better traction over the drive wheels. In some cases it even means better crash-survival. True, less weight (all else equal) will generally improve handling, gas mileage, acceleration, and braking....but those are factors that I'm usually not terribly concerned with.
So, if the new Avalon has enough weight (which is generally expected in this class of sedan, to keep it from riding like an econobox)....then more power to it.
When the last-generation Avalon debuted, though, in 2013, even though it had the weight, they screwed it up with too-stiff suspension and tires, and were forced by complaining customers to make changes for 2016.

The hybrid drive (traction) battery is quite heavy. There is no getting around that at the moment. But despite the added mass, hybrids still run more efficiently than their gasoline-engined equivalents.

The reviews are out today. Looks like the new Avalon has outdone its previous generation model which was the class leader. Reviews are good. It’s nailing the sport experience among the reviewers.

What people forget (unfortunately, even some reviewers) is that "sport experience", in this class, does not necessarily make it a class leader. People usually buy this type of sedan for comfort, not aggressive driving. In fact, as numerous sources indicated, that was the problem with the last major introduction 2013...it was too sport-oriented.
I won't comment on the new model, outside of the circus-clown grille, since I haven't had a chance sit in it or drive it. But I plan to.

Well, I'm not the only one that is not impressed with the new grille. But, I'm keeping an open mind on the rest of the car. Unlike some people, it's not my policy to do "reviews" without actually doing a review.
And, though not often, it is possible for a vehicle to improve radically from one generation to the next. The 2014 Impala proved that....hook, line, and sinker. It's still stuck, though, in the minds of some people, with a rental car reputation.....those who have not even bothered to test drive it.
