My wife is in Colorado right now and just picked up her rental car, a Durango. She says its too small inside. Been a while since I saw a Durango inside but I remembered them being pretty spacious...
durango is same size first 2 rows as old jeep grand cherokee. it just has a bigger back cargo area and 3rd row i guess?
and so the 2nd row is not very roomy.
It's certainly odd that the GC got a new platform and the Durango stayed on the old one.
Just Mopar things lol!
I bet the real reason is the Durango has strong sales somewhere in the world that is not here and they want to keep the price the same as what those markets are used to.

it's truly an ancient platform now.
Good point about the second row, thats likely what she's looking at. Second row room in that gen GC wasn't great (as you know)

The 'Rango is still stong in sales here because Rental and Police/Fire dept's buy ~60% of the builds LOL
The rest of the world already has the Mercedes V300D (Minivan with the luxury interior of an S-class, and the price to match, but Diesel powered). I literally just rented one from Avis while on vacation overseas. Pity we can't get them in the USA.

So my wife is coming home from CO today, she's been driving that Durango all week and she really likes it...so there is hope to get her away from the van!

Anyone buying a Durango needs to get a good security system like those fancy igla or stuff installed, way too many interested individuals if you get my drift.

The one thing I don't get with passenger minivans is the dreaded sliding door. Whoever though it was a good idea? I believe the original Pacifica in the early 2000s came with regular hinged doors?

The sliding doors are part of the selling point. They're fantastic in tight parking lots, especially if you have kids opening their own doors. Children famously don't give a damn if they hit the car next to you. The sliding door prevents that.

Yes, that is correct, but one problem with sliding side-doors is that the power-opening/closing hardware for them tends to be unreliable.
