General Car Conversation - 2026 Part 1
Got my Ford Ranger new with the standard 4 banger.
I wanted the V6 but it was only offered if I got a premium trim level for a few thousand $$$ more
V6, power windows, door locks, nicer seats, etc, etc.
I cheaped out and regretted it.

Also going back earlier, while I’d never own a 4 cylinder car there are ones that are better than others.
The one in the Lexus I drove was beyond God-awful, whereas that Mercedes 2.0t wasn’t that bad.

And if you didn't suggest alternatives with 6 cylinder engines, they almost certainly would have happily bought(and likely still will) 4 cylinder cars again the next time.
Either out of apathy or not seeing why a car that externally the same should cost $5-10k more just because the engine is a little different.
For every 40i BMW (B58 6 cylinder) model I see, I see at least 5 30i models (b48 4 cylinder).
Most people either don't care at all or at least don't care enough to pay more for a better engine.

We went on that same test drive route and our salesperson also told us to floor it. My wife got up to 90+
Cousin has zero interest in the more performance oriented engine.
Ever notice it's always the EV owners driving mid spec Camry type cars who have the air of elitism and constantly try and preach about how awesome it is they don't have to drive their cars?
Appliances aren't real cars and the people who like them aren't traditional car people.

The above post is believed to be the first recorded instance of a perfect 10.0. The first time a full Alanis has ever been seen outside the laboratory. It is indeed rain on your wedding day, and a free ride, if you will, but we’ve already paid.
nicely done!

and no doubt your big well maintained luxury cars are awesome.LOL
I brought up the Morissette Scale, the internationally-accepted unit of measure for irony, the other day in another thread.

although tbh i can't remember anyone using the word 'tiers' specifically but i'll be on the lookout now
I have a Ford Explorer rental in Orlando. The refresh. It’s not bad, better than the pre refresh for sure. Oddly…it has a dark tinted windshield! Side windows aren’t tinted but the windshield is like 20-30%! I can barely see out of it at night. No idea why a rental car from Avis would have a an illegally tinted windshield.
It does have BlueCruise which works great. We are driving this to Miami Thursday so I’m looking forward to that.
Roasting our friend @Striker223 ?. Lol.

I see his point and it works for him though.
He wants to drive high end luxury cars but refuses to be the one who pays the depreciation.
That's what I get from it but I may be wrong though...
But yeah some elitism. Haha
However, some people make it very clear they "only buy new cars", also a little bit of elitism in a way?
