I gave the keys back to my LS460 after only 9k miles. It did feel pretty stable at high speeds. Loved it but wasn’t in love with it. Moved on to a 2.0T😏 that I’ll probably never get rid of!!
haha nice 130 mph club!
it was still pulling! but the highway was gonna end soon and i hate having to slam on the brakes
the LS is definitely somewhat 'boring' but that's where getting a bit blazed before driving it comes into play lol... take a few puffs, cruise around some empty highways at night with that incredible sound system going, wonderful way to unwind at the end of the day

Your ‘98-‘00 will do 155. 430s are limited to 131. I’ve been there too lol.
The limiter sucks. It has plenty of speed left to go is still is pulling hard until the limiter is like “whoa now take it easy” lol
Yeah but you're also a race car driver and LSs were never known to get your pulse going...
That said, there is nothing that I've ever been in at least that beats an LS430 for comfort and refinement for just tooling around in comfort and isolation, including the 460.
I just think it sucks it's gone even though I get why.
What is now Lexus' nicest sedan?? Seriously asking..
In other news that S Class seller got back to me and seems very motivated. He said it runs well. I asked him to video of it starting up, idling, and giving it some gas. If it does that fine I’ll go look at it tomorrow.
May sound strange but I realized I couldn’t drive a luxury car everyday. Give me some ventilated seats, parking sensors and Apple CarPlay and I’m a happy camper. With that being said, that’s what made me move on from the LS so soon although I truly love the car. I never drove it 2 days in a row unless I was out of town on a roadtrip/vacation.

The LS did pull pretty good all the way to 130!! Special car!!
I had a brand new one and it never really grew on me, and it was a UL that had all the tech. My Dad and I just both preferred the LS400. We just never really loved the way they looked inside or out. Ride and drive wasn't the problem, although it wasn't as dynamic as the 400 either.
When his lease on the 98 was up the LS430 was just out and he actually bought the 98 out and kept it because he liked it better. He traded it on the 04 because it had 170k miles at that point and was starting to show its age, the starter needed to be done and the air suspension was starting to lose pressure overnight.
I agree with your old man.
The 2LS was a refinement of the 1LS, so the 2LS had considerably more rear legroom than 1LS.
Just me only, but I didn't like the look of 3LS.
I still like 4LS the most, but 4LS cannot match rear legroom of 2LS unless the 4LS L wheelbase version is purchased.
If you drove a pristine LS430 for two weeks, and are fine with no tech, you wouldn’t want to give the keys back. The car will quickly grow on you.
It’ll cruise at 100MPH with the best of them.
I simply prefer a sportier car than an LS, both in performance and handling and in styling. Also I'm just really not a fan of the Toyota/Lexus interior styling from the 90's through 2000's. Maybe due to all the road trips I did in the 2000's, I've associated that aesthetic with being tired from 10+ hour trips.
If I put the BMW in sport mode, it will try to murder me on an on-ramp. That's what I like.

Its amazing how well packaged the 2LS and 3LS are. The legroom really belies the fact that they are not very big, 196 inches long (a foot shorter than my S Class nearly). You're right that the SWB 4LS wasn't as spacious in the rear as the 2 or 3LS despite being 5 inches longer. My LWB LS460L was a different story though.
The 3LS, I personally didn't care for the tall high greenhouse W140 look. IMO the 2LS was lower and longer looking and had more of its own identity while the 3LS just felt like a Mercedes clone.

Oh I like that too. Lol. Just, for pure objective luxury and comfort and smoothness... an LS430 is hard to beat.
