The LF-ZL is the replacement. But not a sedan and not ready yet.

There will be more hints at it at the upcoming Tokyo mobility show in a couple of days.

Instead of complaing with the same old tired comments that Lexus isn't making what they used to and are killing the brand. I'm adapting and taking advantage of what is available right now. Recently looked at a LX 700h Overtrail and was very impressed!!! LC 500 Inspiration Series coupe and convertibles look nice. My IS 500 Ultimate Edition will be coming in a couple of months This LS Heritage Edition also looks nice to me!

With all due respect, I have to disagree. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and swims like a duck, then it's a duck. Some of those complaints you mention ARE justified....they are not just tired old ramblings. The average Lexus product, today, although still reliable mechanically, is nowhere near the material-quality or refinement we saw in the 90s and early 2000s, when it was THE industry-standard.

I'm not duck hunting. I'm buying vehicles. I find the current LX, LC, IS interiors to be quite nice! And I had a 2002 IS 300 and RX. My point is there are still some great Lexus vehicles to be had right now.

It's so funny how they announced the 2026 ES earlier this year as "the global flagship" but wouldn't confirm that the LS was being put out to pasture.

As to the main story, disappointing, but not surprising. If the current model weren't such a departure from what an LS should be, I bet there'd still be a market for a 6th gen.
My friend go to your local dealer and speak to them.
See what they tell you 🤔

Original ES250 was there to fill out the showroom Lexus felt it would have been awkward to have only one model. Now that also ran has become their flagship.

I'm sure all 34 LS500 owners will be truly sad.

global flagship was lost in translation from Chinese press release. They have corrected the wording after a few days.

We've now entered a point where it becomes difficult to imagine how a new LS would even be able to differentiate itself from the ES. All the benefits of the LS over the ES originally - being a RWD architecture and having a more powerful powertrain - have been completed negated with the new ES EV. A battery allows even non-bespoke platform EV's to have almost equal weight distribution, and more power getting sent to the rear wheels to make a vehicle RWD-biased can be done with mere software programming in an EV. As for space, the new ES EV is more spacious than any LS ever was.

At that point the only major difference will be suspension design, which was a major weak point with the LS500 ironically and where the Germans have typically always excelled at over Lexus, and interior material quality, which is becoming less and less important as Lexus and the rest of the industry moves to this new minimalist touchscreen only interior designed specifically for the Chinese market.

Short of Lexus pulling some insane pipe dream fantasy like making a V12 LS, there's just no point in it existing alongside the new ES.

Maybe just maybe will be like the Land Cruiser. The LS will come back in like three years. Goes back to the ORGINIAL LS roots. V8 , ultra roomy , smooth and relaxing . Like now of days people think every vehicle needs to be “sporty” and Lexus feel into that thought . A big barge like the LS, S560 , 7 series , A8 should be comfortable and relaxing first , sporty as an option .

the ES cannot fill the LS shoes . The IS I feel is soon also discontinued after the most current refresh .

I agree.
And I don't see it going up against a Mercedes S class.

I think the LS maybe can.
