LOL.. are you sitting on one *** cheek dreading hitting 100k?
Ever since mine turned over 70k I have this stupid complex. The cars like to be driven....hard. Yet somehow the "7" at the beginning of the miles seems way worse than "6" lol.
SL is a gas guzzler, but not as bad as yours but I was a little surprised. No more than 14MPG city is my guess. LOL the Yukon barely lets you access the mpg, I still haven't figured out how to access it like in my LX where you can see your tank average all the time. It hides away for a reason, lmao.
I don't yearn for my cars to suck gas down but I could not possibly care less that they do.
that pic is years old haha i'm at like 130,000 now... just been doing oil changes every 5k with M1 5W-40 FS
the benzes were out today! in honor of "211" day coming up on tuesday lol
there was an albanian guy with a diesel W211 CDI (the one with the hood up right next to me) who claimed to be able to beat E55s but i'm still a bit doubtful haha

That's great. It really is cool that a fellow member also puts miles on his beloved Mercedes. I do oil changes about every 5-6k, full synthetic. Runs like a top, it feels like it's getting a little faster with age... could be placebo effect but I've heard of this with higher performance Mercedes cars before. I do not grandma this car and perhaps the POs did. Or who knows, it's fast and loud and fun.
I really need to get over it the mileage thing. Mileage isn't really an issue with these cars as long as you take care of them. I'm never selling it so who cares. I've seen these with well over 200k. I'll be dead 3 more times after the first before I hit that mileage.
But reality just isn't that, they aren't substantially more
reliable than anyone else post 2010. You know how many UZs I've had though that "won't start" form snapped belts?
!
A snapped belt is a maintenance item.
I really find it amusing that the only car that gets any respect by you has to be an Audi or Volkswagen. Everything else is junk.
The C8 ZR1 you poo pood (and suggested someone buy a 2013 Audi R8 instead...really?) was designed from the ground up to accommodate the insane ZR1.
I know you like Audis but this is going to be a force to reckon with, all the Porsche guys are silent about it and say 1064 hp is too much if you can dredge a word or two from them about it. LMFAO.

the M113 especially is happy to keep putting on the miles! also the car is too addicting to not use at least once a week or so lol... not to mention the idea of paying hundreds of dollars per year in reg and insurance costs just to have the car sit there doesn’t sit right with me
tbh i’m more worried about something going wrong from me letting it go unused for too long! it’s like an organism that thing you gotta keep the batteries (yes 2 batteries) charged and the rubber in the suspension moving... i purposely looked for a car that got used between 5000 - 10000 miles per year since i knew i’d be putting it to good use haha

Absolutely, I get it. You wanna keep the coolant flowing and let it get up to temp, same with the oil. You want the transmission to heat up and cycle. You want to A/C to run and the heat to blast. I routinely drive mine when it's bitter, bitter cold, and when it's 100 degrees outside just to run it through its paces. It has the best A/C out of all the cars lol except.... the Yukon.
I think the Universe gave me some good luck and placed my SL in my hands.... After lots of bad luck with back surgeries. It really is almost too good to be true of a car. I'm used to it now but I just had no idea the car would be this much of a tank reliability wise.
Don't let it sit, drive it. Tank of gas a month AT LEAST. I know you know this but all the MB mechanics will say the exact same thing, drive these cars!!!
Milage was 58k when I got mine, just about perfect. All the rubber is fine except the mounts that I changed. Suspension is still great.

So why do I want to spend more on a ZR1 that has less power, no AWD, and a trans that we know has issues vs buying a TTR8? Pound for pound I get more for the same or less money. The ZR1 is DOA against a turbo S at its price btw, quoted 1/4 mile is already less so idk what you are talking about, I was hyping when there was a chance for a 130k 5 year warranty vette. Not current prices. Also I said get a 2nd Gen R8, you know the one that can hold over 1500hp stock internals....
UZ engine remarks are interesting since I've owned several and BOTH OF MINE have had unexpected issues and leaks related to the water pump and one had cam seal failures on top of a bunch of other small endless issues.
You know what V8s of mine haven't had that? My UR engines. They have both been great with the worst issue being a valve cover leak unlike the UZs, my 06 with 71k miles needs the damn pump replaced again since apparently 2700 miles is too much to ask of it before it needs a timing belt job again.
I respect stuff that is good and gives little issues, BMWs B58/S58 cars are great, AMGs and normal Benz 4.0s and M113/112 in all applications are great. The UZ is severely overhyped and a reliable source of valve cover, cam seal, timing belt, and cracked exhaust manifold jobs for me. I've barely had to touch UR engines in the MANY Lexus vehicles I've seen and in the Toyota trucks it's always minor issues or owner induced stupidity.
I'm not speaking from a position of bias or lack of experience, I'm saying what I am because of what I have seen. I actively tell people to stay the hell away from most of what Audi makes for a very good reason, the EA888 is trash and the 3.0S has some serious issues that may cost you a lot of money. However you can get them CHEAP and you can replace the engine 2x before you gain price parity with a used Lexus equivalent that will be slower and drive worse. I still usually recommend the Lexus/Toyota though since most people aren't the right type of owner for a German car
You yourself love your SL more than any of your Lexus products. Enough said.

But it's not as reliable. I wouldn't even touch it with jumper cables, while I have practically pulled a Short Circuit (the movie where he gets fried) with it jumping the LS430 over the years and it just doesn't stop or even slow down.
The LS430 has had a thermostat and a door lock actuator replaced and lower control arm bushings. That's it. in 21 years. I had an audio issue with no sound that was my fault with a junky XM adaptor.
Of course I love a special edition last year R129 the most out of all of my cars, but I still call a spade a spade. 1064hp tt V8 is ludicrous, it deserves respect. The car itself does. I also think the Audi A8 that was low 3 seconds 0-60 was absolutely insane. I think lots of cars are great, well.... not so much anymore but you know what I mean! And oh, yes I love the SL the most but if anything happened to my LS430 it would not be a good day, that's putting it mildly. The LX and GMC are replaceable.

The issue with the vette is that it's too expensive for what you get, I was excited as hell at 130k but actual performance numbers are below current cars by a good bit and it's RWD so you won't ever get the same launch.
I would be willing to be you $1000 if you brought me your LS to be actually inspected we will find at least $10k retail items that are worn out or have issues. Just because it turns on and moves doesn't mean it doesn't need stuff

Get a draggy. I plan on picking up one.
There’s a new MKV Supra owner that came from 2 Lemon C8s. What caused the lemon? Transmission failure.

But if I brought you a W12 Audi or Phaeton that wouldn't be the case?
You're telling me a 1064hp ZR1 is inferior to an R8? I don't think so.
It's like the Toyota parts truck would break on the way to bring the you 10k worth of stuff you think my LS430 "needs". That's how bad you sometimes paint some Toyotas and Lexuses which have proven their quality/durability/reliability 25 times over.
And I'd take that bet. My car doesn't need anything. It was just up on a rack getting tires and inspected. It drives the exact same as it did when I bought it, especially now since I put fresh Michelins on it. :chef's kiss:
Lol I replaced all the brakes (everything) in 2017 and I haven't even had to resurface the front rotors yet or change pads, lol.
