I think those wheels were dealer installed accessory wheels. I think they’re kind of ugly. They remind me of wire wheel covers. The standard 2007 to 2009 Wheels were kind of bland. I much prefer the ultra luxury wheels, or the ones from the 2010 refresh.
Well there is one less W12 running around on the roads, my good friend who runs the W12 owners club lost his D3 to someone pulling in front of him.
The difference in crash performance is staggering......his car didn't lose the engine and the other was reformed around his crash bar.
Car was thrown into the other lane and totaled a nautilus SUV as well, 50 mph hit. I have pictures of his car but I won't post them yet since it's a video with him in it etc
Something I have learned having Lexus vehicles for so long and now having had Mercedes vehicles and being immersed in the MB world, "special" is the right word for sure. There is just something about a Mercedes that doesn't exist in most Lexuses (most, not all). I
t.
Yes, there absolutely are special Lexuses but they're not as special as special MBs. MBs don't have to be special editions to be special, either.
I think the LS430 is one of the finest luxury cars ever produced, period.. (yes, I know you disagree) I could write a dissertation on it. It is absolutely a special car.
Same with LX, last Land Cruiser with the burly V8 before the truck went all soft for fuel economy, losing half the armor underneath, downsizing the engine, etc.
However, both those don't even come close to the MB in terms of specialness. The gauge needles are even silver in the car for Pete's sake.
LS430 is a well performing machine but it doesn't get your heart up, it's not supposed to. No drama.
However when I start to have fun in the Benz I get this crazy grin and go giddy like a school girl. It begs you to push it, and shrugs hard driving off like nothing. SL shrugs off fast fast harrrrd driving like the LX shrugs off 12 inches of snow and how the LS430 shrugs off 125MPH on the interstate for hours straight (done it).
You really can feel the heritage and soul, etc. etc. etc. I know 10000% what you mean.
We aren't rushing for an LC convertible, it'll happen eventually for sure.... Quite happy with our current roadster though.
Do new MBs still have the "A DIAMLER PRODUCT" sticker in the right lower windshield? Even that is special.
I've seen it 3 times for unexpected repairs, lost a single coil on cyl 4, ...
How often does that happen?
I keep a spare coil (& plugs & torque wrench just in case) but I've only seen it happen on... a 3sz-fe yaris and a 2zr-fe yaris, both around 120k mi and very rarely if ever driven "properly" - and on an s60 t6, but that's a boosted car. My corolla is driven at stupid RPMs and speeds all the time and there are no issues.

even better, it's not a sticker, it's just the signature somehow imprinted directly on the glass.
Really????
Even better. I was going to mention that even the glass seems special... with the "Seikrut" on them and the MB star. It's realllllly easy to spot OEM MB glass.
Lol in that pic you can see a 5 foot long CVS receipt in the passenger seat. Those are so annoying.

Lexus can be special. But in a different way compared to MB. I would say the older Mercedes-Benz are more special in their design and style. I would say the addition of electrification in the hybrid components it’s not a good thing when it comes to German cars. Especially from the lens of longevity

Right, LS430 isn't special because of its design bc it's a Mercedes copy lol.
It's special because it just does everything so well (if a luxury isolation chamber is what you want), and refuses to ever even hiccup let alone break. And it's one of the finest built cars I've ever seen in my life. We have guests in from out of town and they both were sorta shocked how nice my car is, it blew them away when I said it's literally 20 years old. It's nice to use the backseat, or have guests or whatever in it!!!! The back seat is pretty much just as comfy as the front in a 430.
