General Car Conversation 2024 - part 2
Toyota is imprinted on all the parts of the car that never break, lol. Regular people can't see them.
If Lexus wanted to compete with $115k cars (in today's money) it needed Toyota removed from the glass, that would take away from the whole experience like I said.
LS400 met or exceeded competition like I said, probably exceeded except it didn't have as many fancy gizmos (enter LS430).

The 430 did well for it's price range and is a very well made car and objectively the best made for it's years if you exclude the A8, but it's not in same class in any other aspect.
Them saying TOYOTA on the glass never bothered me.
I agree they are ugly. They were dealer installed but they were Lexus OEM wheels.
I don't disagree at all, the LS430 is a special car for sure. All I have said was of the three LS generations I had the 430 was my least favorite, doesn't mean its not an excellent car. [/QUOTE]
So its interesting, my S560 had Carl Benz' signature imbedded in the glass, My S580 says "Mercedes" imbedded in the glass.
I just was behind a guy in a stunning R230 SL55. We kept pointing "you da man" sorta lol at each other after I got up along side him. (Both of us had tops up.) He DEFINITELY recognized whereas many SL drivers are oblivious. Imagine the maintenance bills on that, whew. One thing about the R230 is that folding hardtop is great. In the later models it had that magic roof that would turn clear, that's just ridiculous in the best way.

Man check this thing out. Brings back memories, my first car was a 95 Ford Explorer Limited in this same white.

Excellent SUV and very reliable.
I regretted selling it.

It's nice to see these old cars still running and looking good.
Did you have those defective Firestone Wilderness Tires replaced? Many owners got that done free, under a recall.....for reasons you and I both know about, and don't need re-hashing here. One friend of mine, who had either an Explorer or Mountaineer of that vintage (don't recall which), got a set of new Michelins from that deal.
