AJT123 - re modern safety... a RT reviewer comes around after getting a modern car after having several older cars...

I love knowing I have modern-car safety, with potential life savers like automatic braking with pedestrian detection. The curmudgeon in me wants to complain that humans should be able to drive without electronic aids, but a hundred years of experimenting with that has lead to a lot of deaths.

Lol I have no problem with them...... The Denali has a bunch and they don't bother me.

All I said was my older car cars not including that are safe enough for me.

Who would have thought that an innocent Halloween message would devolve into a debate In iDrive a notification pops up that there is a message, at that point you can start the car and go on about your business and the notification goes away. If you want to see it, you have to go to Installed Apps and open it, if not don't open it. Same with any other holidays that might pop up. No problem.

Yeah, we need to get back on track or this thread will get closed. Back to cars, I would have preferred blind spot monitoring in the Civic and would give up brake hold for BSM. People seem to like driving in the blind spot. I mentioned before, that if they are slow in the left lane and I pass on the right, they speed up for a while. I know they are there. I guess I want the car to confirm it. I would like a real TPMS instead of Hondas bull**** system that measures based on rotational differential. I liked seeing the PSI over ‘one of your tires is low and you may be effed, but good luck.’

It's car chat, we can talk about anything car related. We can change subjects etc etc.

you need to be careful when using the 'M word' inside the car lol... you can be passing by a nice R129 and say something like aww man i wish mercedes still made them like that, next thing you know the radio cuts out and the car is asking how can i help you? also the voice recognition (in the GLE at least) is still nothing special, would not pass the turing test

Yes but you are wrong, those two cars are the exact same weight within less than 50lb.

Death rates also prove that heavier is better, lowest death rates are in the largest cars and largest SUVs.

as for halloween, my sister's home and their mercedes cars were just completely egged by local teens having 'fun'.

and i don't need halloween car screen graphics to bring joy into my life.
It’s a funny cute pumpkin on a navigation screen for christ’s sake. My screen pumpkins didn’t egg your sisters car, nor did they create Halloween.

steve i can't make this any more clear lol, imagine that in the span of a single century you went from controlling over 1/4 of the entire world to being known for this:

this interaction between tony and svetlana at 1:40 sums it up fairly well
