Did you have those defective Firestone Wilderness Tires replaced? Many owners got that done free, under a recall.....for reasons you and I both know about, and don't need re-hashing here. One friend of mine, who had either an Explorer or Mountaineer of that vintage (don't recall which), got a set of new Michelins from that deal.
I think that was a '95 Explorer up there? I don't think the Firestone debacle was until around the turn of the century if I recall.... but I could be wrong.
And yes that Explorer was nice in its day, just..... a Ford. My first car was a Ford too, lol. I had to screw in parts of the door latch.
My first car was very good to me, never once had an issue from new under my dads use to mine to 162k except the power steering rack. Blew 7 of them, I have replacement down to a science though....takes me 35-45 minutes. Worst one was at an autocross where I took 2nd for truck/suvs and 13th overall since it was out of state lol!
I'll get around to fixing the bodywork sometime soon, bed rusted because Ohio car

Yes, basically late 90s/early-2000s.....but it also covered Explorers and Mountaineers that were already several years old, like Steve's '95.

No, mine came with Goodyear Wranglers.

The video is a 99, that was the second refresh of the Gen II, mine was the first year of the Gen II
It actually was a very nice truck. Nice materials inside for the most part, and they were legitimately luxurious for the time. Mine had rear air suspension and JBL audio and memory seats and all.
True but rare to see a plain Jane car that someone still cares about.
Most are wrecked or made into soda cans already. Lol
That's a good thing! 🤓

i'd prefer highly polluting unsafe cars off the road unless they're some kind of special 'classic' antique.

maybe real if it was once at the bottom of a lake.

I would assume that older cars like that if nice aren't used as dailies but maybe it's possible in the southern states? Safety though just kills the person in the older car so that's their choice.....Friend of mine was in a crash recently and his "old" W12 annihilated a newer car lol! He was pissed off vs the other guy who was knocked out and who's car was flung into the other lane entirely.
