This is the reason so many people request and receive speed humps on their streets. In Memphis so many residential streets have them now for good reason.

We have them all over the place here too.

So this is funny. Just rolled over 5k miles in the S580, I'm going to change the oil every 5k to avoid the valve cover gasket issue I had with the S560. I don't want to go through the whole rigmarole of dropping it off and getting a loaner and waiting for them to get to it, etc. I don't want to use a quick lube place. But, some MB dealers have Express Service. No appointment, in and out in an hour...sounds great. This is on the website of the dealer:

So...I should be able to just show up, right? No appointment necessary right? In and out in an hour, right?

To make sure I called. "Oh no, you need to make an appointment for that". Okay...well when can they do it today? Clickity click click, we can do it tomorrow from 7:45-10:45. So...it will take 3 hours? Yes sir, it might be longer. So...the Express Service no appointment necessary in and out in an hour or less requires an appointment, and will take at least 3 hours? Yes sir. Click.

Ridiculous lol

So you pay a lot of money to wait?
Doesn't sound like a good deal or good service

Time IS money. Lol

I called another dealer and they also require an appointment, but they have one at 1:30 and say it will be done in an hour. Hilarious.

Other dealer is getting a Yelp Review!

They do that at the dealer here, and it really does take an hour... maybe a tad longer.

So much better if they do what they promise.
Double charging a customer is nothing but a screw job and they know it.

Paying once by being made to wait, (your time is money).
Paying again on the bill.

Double charging! 🧐🤓

I don't even know what that is, or can't picture it because I don't care about new cars anymore.

Trucks are a different story.

That is a reason my friend does the oil changes in his company car himself, it just isn't worth his time to take the car somewhere with how much he drives/needs oil. He has it down to 10 minutes now since I think based on miles he has done it 24 times this last year.....

Funny enough he also games it by making the company pay him back for oil and the change

We had speed bumps put in where I used to live in the condo. I was a board member and I was the only dissenting vote. I said the only people affected are those who already don’t speed in the neighborhood (selfish because of lowered cars, yes) and the trucks and SUVs will continue to haul *** through the neighborhood. That is exactly what happened.

People absolutely haul *** in my neighborhood now. This is and old neighborhood (I am on the new side which was mostly built in the 50s) and the speed limit is 25 mph throughout. I am 5 houses from an elbow turn which forces people to turn left on my street. It’s not uncommon for “drivers” to reach 50 mph by the time they get to my house, then 3 houses down, they have to hard brake to turn at a T intersection. There is no stop sign there. It’s an unmarked yield. The people who drive like *** holes just run that yield. I don’t understand the purpose of driving like that.

I'm not one to skimp on maintenance, but I definitely wouldn't be changing my oil every other week, regardless of how many miles I'd covered in that time. It's not at all seeing the conditions that cause oil to break down and collect contaminants that quickly.

Hopefully that’s the case. The dealer I usually use and where I bought it doesn’t do Express Service. This is Euro Motorcars in Bethesda though which is great.

I can bum around the dealer looking at cars for an hour. I just can’t sit there for 3 friggin hours. I also don’t want to get a loaner and be without it for 3 days while they get around to it.

They are hot, FWD garbage. They tried to give me one as a loaner a while back that had manual seats lol. The guy goes “like when we were kids it has manual seats” I was like no thanks

I considered just doing it myself since it’s just an oil change, and I don’t want to go to a quick lube place or sit on a bench at the independent shop. But then I would have to get ramps and a drain receptacle and dispose of the oil, big PITA.

His CRV is the only one that hasn't blown the engine or needed a chain, he drives a stupid amount and even though I told him 10k miles is probably fine he took my "never exceed 5k" advice a little too seriously. It's a company car, who cares, it will be fine lol!

You can get an extractor but the issue is your filter is bottom access......that alone would have me not want to do it at home.

I don't do my German stuff at home for the reasons you mention, the under shields are an enough of a pain I just drive to the shop if I need to do anything on them. The 460 is actually doable without jacking it up at all!
