Tesla Full Self Driving Thread
i've never used AP so don't really care, but in FSD you can still tell it to change lanes by tapping the turn signal. i do that when i think it's staying in the left lane too long.
also, AP is dead now so not relevant. and we can thank California for killing it.

Looking at FSD subscription numbers, there are very small and disappointing - that's why they moved out of autosteer business because for most people autosteer was enough.
FSD is different beast where you completely lose control of the car - quite often that will not work where autosteer was good enough.
For instance, FSD works really good now in Europe in test drives, and it is million of years ahead of autosteer. BUT, you have very little control of it. For instance, at least here there are huge section of right lines on highway destroyed by trucks. So if there is no traffic, you will drive in left line or else your ride is going to be bumpy.
Autosteer worked amazingly for that. FSD will make you cancel it.
There is a lot of nuance there. It would have been great if they gave us Autosteer but with FSD software for instance.
In fact, nvidia+mb system will let you override temporarily both acceleration and steering without cancelling the drive.
On their website, used Teslas still have autopilot. They changed it on the spec sheet to say "Traffic aware cruise control with auto steer".
Nope, I still have have auto steer in both my Tesla's, I just don't have it enabled. If I had purchased Advanced AP, I would still have it. It's new cars coming out of the factory where it will not longer be a feature, at least that's what I've heard
I've said it before but I agree with Steve, until I can have the car completely drive itself to the same degree as if I was to the point I can be in the right rear seat I won't use the feature.
The effort required to front seat passenger and be ready to step in vs just driving myself is higher as I'm constantly wondering what it is going to do. It's like babysitting a new driver the whole time

BTW there is no effort required, you just sit back and let the car do it's thing

The only folks constantly repeating themselves over and over ad infinitum, about how pointless FSD is are the ones who don't own a Tesla.....
We get it loud and clear. Can we please move on? It's ok to think it's pointless, why repeat the same thing over and over again? 🤔
