Peter Rawlinson has been fired, sorry stepping away from his role as CEO of Lucid.

rawlinson is a passionate and talented engineer, but i suspect is also a 'who cares about balance sheet' kind of guy.

so the move is likely a good one. if the change works for lucid rawlinson will reap the rewards with his boatload of stock.

by the way, every other ad i see on reddit lately is for lucid.

Lucid is also a very innovative company, but again, it's biggest problem is high price and fierce competition. Had they been able to release cars in 2021, it could have been a different story. People were flush with COVID cash, that mixed with pent up demand

I thought the Lucid I test drove was an excellent car with great range (500 miles), materials, features, and is an excellent drivers car compared to other EVs in that price range. Many reviewers feel that it drives and handles way better than the Model S even though it is much heavier. It’s objectively a much better car than the Model S.

I agree that it doesn’t sell well because of its high price (and probably looks) so it’s hard to scale but if they came out with a car in the Model 3/Y price range where they could sell more volume that would help a ton.

The problem I had when I test drove one was the buggy software. My friend has an Air, he does like it but told me software is not very good. It once became totally unresponsive, they told him to lock it, let it sit for 20 minutes, and try again. It worked after that. My Polestar did similar stuff, especially the first year I had it

Everyone says the Lucid Air is amazing and very few people buy them.

I sat in the Lucid at the auto show. I honestly find the interior very overrated. I think the dash design is too much like a Buick with the long curvy dash, and the lower screen reminds me of Mercedes. If I had to choose, I’d say the Model S has a much better interior design. The speedometer on the S is really nicely placed

There are some very interesting and no doubt heavily incentivized deals on Lucid Air at the moment. The Lucid subreddit has some examples. They are absolutely piquing my curiosity and interest.

How difficult is it to take an infotainment system from let’s say a Lexus or BMW and stick it in a Lucid and it be a great car without any software flaws.

I have read things about the software and that would be frustrating to an owner.

I agree but not sure why. For me it was the looks of the car but had the Saphire been around $150k I probably would have gotten that given the wider fenders which make look a little sportier and the better range and I wouldn’t even need the CCB brakes.

Not sure if you sat in the grand touring model with the better materials but it is also way roomier in the back seat and more comfortable since the back seats are more laid back than the S which are too straight up. I also thought the features were way better with nicer blind spot cameras on the main screen (vs Teslas which was an afterthought), 360 degree camera, nice massaging seats, car play, soft close doors, etc. Of course this is more of a luxury car vs a sport sedan but for what you get it seems like a bargain.

For a grand touring model spec’d at $120k, after incentives with zero down except taxes and tags it was about $1200 a month for 15k miles a year vs $1450 a month for a Plaid that was about $96k. After configuring again I would spec the Lucid to $130k with everything I would want on it and the payment would be in line with the Plaid.
