it was a bit grungy after almost a month, so gave it a bath today...

loving the dark rims so i don't agonize over whether it's really clean.

finished...

couple more nice surprises... i turned on the auto shift feature so when i get into it in my garage, when i hit the brake it automatically puts it in reverse. i'm getting lazier and lazier and love it.

tuesday i get the homelink installed (they come to the house).

does anyone have mud flaps? i was wondering if they lower range.

about range, i'm getting fairly consistent 4mi./kwh which is great.

The auto shift is great for getting in and driving, but in any other scenario, it's not as smart as one would hope. Usually the camera needs to sense something really close in front or behind you before shifting.

even for just getting out of my garage it’s a nice win.

Was just poking around the Tesla website for pricing on the new Y Performance. No option to lease that trim; I wonder why. I keep kicking tires on getting a new Y or a 1-2 year old S, and if I go with a new Y I would likely do a 2 year lease. But I'd lean towards getting the Performance and as of now that won't be an option. I feel like Tesla does some weird things regarding leases, etc. What is the downside to them offering a lease on the MYP?

you can't lease the standard models too. Im sure it has to do with supply and demand. There might be tons of inventory for a particular vehicle that they are trying to get rid of. I bet you'll have able to lease all models after this wave of leasing discount passes.

Oh good point, you're right. Looks like just the RWD and AWD options of "Premium" can be leased. Hopefully that'll change. I'd like to make up my mind in the next 3 months about what to do. I prefer the looks of the S but a 1-2 year old model S with the full steering wheel (my wife hates the yoke) is not easy to come by. They get snatched up immediately upon listing on Carvana; kinda wild.

My recommendation...wait until December and look through inventory. Total discount on my Model 3 was $14k, which included the $7500 credit. Got free 19" wheels and free Black paint. You may have to pick it up, I was about to fly out to SoCal and drive one back (about 300 miles away), but found one closer (40 miles away). Also, make sure you use your own referral code for additional discounts

model y p looks better and has adaptive suspension but as far as its blistering speed, that just doesn’t interest me. an awd (dual motor) is still PLENTY fast.
since i’m into ride comfort and range i got rwd with 19s. lot cheaper too.

still looks good to me.

i leased this (3 yrs) and i could see me buying at lease end (only 29k!).
hyundai goes back in a year… likely won’t be replaced.

Tell me about it . Its faster off the line than most gasoline cars on the road. Seriously, if I went any faster, there would be no benefit unless I was taking it on the track. Which is why I'm glad I didn't go for the Performance and saved $10k

Why is that such an important criteria?? You mention this a couple times every day 😄

Personally I couldn't care less. To me what matters is that an EV is very fast and incredibly smooth. End of story. 😄

Because I like to put people to shame, especially people who think they have "fast cars". End of story 🤣
