so a question... the app seems to turn the 'sentry mode' on even if i turn it off, and it seems like that does actually consume battery while the car sits there?
i also have to say tesla doesn't seem to provide much info on setting things up... of course there's thousands of settings, lol.
also, i added gf as a driver, but when i go to manage drivers on the app is only shows her, not me? is that because it only means manage non-owners of the car?
Make sure it's not enabled in the screen. There is a button to turn it on, it will turn off automatically when you get in the car. It does consume battery, but not that much in my case
it's really cool that you never have to unlock/lock the car. with my 'phone as key' setup it unlocks as i walk up, and it locks about 5 seconds after i walk away.
someone asked me 'what if you lose your phone'? i do carry one of the key cards, but now just learned my apple watch can be a key too (and now is), so not sure i need to carry the key card at all.

Congrats on the new ride. Amazing value for the money. After some time living with the Tesla, I'll be curious to see which of the 3 turns out to be the one you like the best.

Very cool indeed! When I got mine 6 years ago, this feature plus not having to "turn on" or "turn off" the car as you get in or leave were the coolest features to experience.

yeah, definitely interesting.
interior 'niceness': gv60
value and tech: model y
exterior looks (to me): ioniq 5
one thing i miss in the Y from apple car play is the navigation can't navigate to the address of a 'contact'. i'm used to being able to say 'navigate to john smith' and it goes to john's home.
i find the model y "app list" a mess... no idea what order they're placed there so i can't find anything.
i tried reorganizing but couldn't?
i find the tesla phone app to be wanting... why can i see charging/energy use stats in the app (vs the 'energy' app in the car)?

In the app, go to Charge Stats
You can place your most frequently used apps in the docker. Your frequent navigated places automatically show up

did a trip yesterday about 40mi. ea. way to a friend’s house. fsd 99% of the way, yay! the attention monitoring (the driver, i.e., me) is very clever. if you pick up your phone it notices right away and says so, ha.
i’ve noticed (on highway in particular) the lane centering ‘wanders’ very slightly left and right, kind of a like a wave back and forth. not a biggy, but i did notice it.
another observation, the rear seat leg room is not as great as i thought it was, esp. behind me in front because i’m tall, but it’s fine. the ioniq is much better though. the Y makes uses the space though in back cargo hatch area, which is huge.

When I had a 2025 Model S loaner a couple of weeks ago, I got a coffee and it warned me every single time I had a sip. It ended up banning me in a very short span of time. My wife thinks it's great to ban me so quickly. I felt it was too strict.
So BlueCruise isn't at the overall level of FSD, of course, albeit it is absolutely excellent as a highway driving assist, but one thing it does do very well is driver monitoring and knowing when to intervene if you aren't paying attention. There were a couple of updates specific to that, and they made significant improvements. As long as you are generally obviously paying attention is is very tolerant (in the right way, it quickly picks up obvious inattention)
another 'hmm... cool' thing about teslas... instead of the dumb "tap the turn signal stalk and it flashes for 3, 5, 7 or whatever number of flashes" it seems to keep flashing UNTIL you change lanes which it 'sees' then turns off the signal! genyus.
and of course if you're in fsd (and maybe enhanced autopilot?) if you tap the stalk or use the button on cars without stalks the car changes lanes by itself!
now in my ioniq i find it annoying that tapping the stalk just flashes 3 times and that's it. it CAN change lanes on major highways (interstates) in its "HDA" (highway driving assist) mode, but it's very cautious and very slow.
