Just for grins I swapped out some coolant.
Figured 27k hard miles.
Never tested the old stuff. It was probably just fine for street driving.
The system holds 12+ quarts I think but I only put back like 7+
Couldn't drain what’s in the head so it was a 75% coolant swap...

Ming,

How are the Ohlins ILX treating you? Were you able to dial in compression/rebound settings that work for you?

I'm considering switching to this next year.

^^ Koni
Well the compression was set pretty much from the first few days out.
Been constantly tweaking the rebound from track to track.
Lets just say the shocks are “smoother” than the penskes I had. Can tell the ILX is just a lot more robust.
The car doesn’t get upset when going over big curbs and over all has a softer feel, which initially I didn’t like. But crazy thing is the car still grips while being softer. That’s the biggest difference.

My biggest gripe is the control ***** are both on the bottom. Having to adjust means having to jack car up high and crawl under or jack slightly to remove wheel.
Neither option all that fun when our track days have been in 90+ degrees weather and the front rotors are a gazillion degrees when I come off track.

There is the bonus of being mostly interior noise free compare to the RR set up.
Not that noise is a deal breaker for me.

Hope that helps.
Pm me and we can talk or text if you’re really going to switch.
if you’re not going to hardcore track frequently, not sure ILX would be worth it.
I often wondered if I could have gotten more performance if I had put that money towards carbon rotors instead.

Didn’t like the Cup2s. Didn’t like em the 1st set. Thought I’d give a second try. But this time didn’t like neither so I’m done with them. It’s just my driving style I guess or possibly the small stagger.
For me, they grip till they don’t and just lets loose.

Went back with tried and true for me. R888r square 275/35
The Toyos have a much more progressive grip loss. Much easier to drive at the edge and know how much grip left.
Biggest trade off is the side wall. The Cups do have a better wall thus sharper turn in.

Anyone in Atl interested in some lightly tracked cup2 lmk.
i know the sizes prob not great fit if trying to stay oe diameter.
275/35/19
285/35/19

I swapped spark plugs today at 27k miles. Wanted to try those colder plugs that Konichiwa recommended.
Holy cow the old plugs looked terrible!! Heavily oil fouled plus grey buildup which I will assume is detonation from being lean...
I’ve always knew my motor had heavy blow by, due to the amount of oil I catch in the AOS, even though I used the highest possible grade oil and gas (amsoil and shell v power). Plus I do maintenance way way way before it’s due.

There were a little bit of Ti in the most recent oil analysis, which did clue me in that there were some valve damage happening, which is probably from being way lean. Wonder if RR tune needs to be tweaked or I got a faulty fuel pump or something fuel related.
No good. Big track day next weekend at NCM too...

Guess I’ll have to start data logging to find out. Car feels fine & idles normal before and after plug change.

Had a track day at NCM this past Saturday. Super fun. Most awesome track!
But on the last two sessions, I noticed fuel leak out the gas flap. Couldn’t tell if it came out of the evap vent hole or the cap itself. Bummed that I’m dealing with these issues since the F isn’t that old. Hoping it's just a failed gas cap. Other wise I’m guessing it’s gonna be a purge solenoid/check valve type issue.

Haven’t updated in a while.

Added these Ti brake pad shims from Yperion. what a huge difference!!!
Think the pad temperature was just never quite high enough before due to heat loss through the pistons & calipers. Mind you that I’m running endless ME race pads that need more heat than the typical street/oem pad.

The braking power increased dramatically this time on track and with zero fade. Typically I get a little bit of fade at the end of the session at Road Atlanta since it’s so brake heavy.

For serious track guys, it’s a must have!
I saw that RR started making these too so there are two options.

Got Yperion making some other Ti goodies too. They’re on the way. Excited. Xmas presents!
Thanks to Ron for telling me about Yperion. Look him up on insta if anyone looking to get custom Ti stuff fabricated.

Ron,
Not sure I can give a really objective answer since my old plugs were so fouled. Think
any new plug would be an improvement.
That said, the old plugs never missed and the new plugs feel the same.
I never noticed any sound difference like Koni mentioned.

I’ve been on track 3 times since new plugs. All business as usual. Car pulls as hard as ever, but the track days have been in cooler weather with cooler air. FWIW

Sounds good! I guess as long there isn't any negative effects with the colder plugs, it's good to go. I just found a local shell station that sells Trick 101 so I tried 5gal of that mixed with 10gal 92shell vpower, with a calculated mix of 94 I believe. So, that's what I'm going to be running most of the time.

Thanks for the feedback on the spark plugs!
EDIT: Got the new plugs in and well, first thing I noticed, the car never started this quick with the factory installed plugs!

Hey man, just came across your thread, and I'm a fellow ATL/Track addict. New to the platform, would like to pick your brain on some do's and dont's. What part of town are you in?

Planning on doing RA either Feb 22-23, or March 30 with Chin. Any events lined up for you?

Hey Dre, glad to see more rcf track guys!

Hit me up on pm and we can trade numbers to talk/text more.
I have canton address but just across Fulton county line in Cherokee. Really closer to alpharetta, Roswell or woodstock compare to canton proper.

No track dates locked so far due to many car projects. As soon as those get closer to finished I’ll be running.
Typically not with Chin tho. Not a big fan of the Chin vibe.
Usually run with just track it for RA, Barber, Roebling.
At AMP I just run Scca track nights. Easy and cheap.
Use other clubs for out of state tracks.

Finally got my custom Ti studs in. Just gotta find time to install.
Will weigh all the oem studs once I get em out and see how much rotational mass was saved.
They have a special coating on them so the Ti lugs won’t seize up on the Ti studs.

Got the custom Ti tow hook too but the shank threads were wrong.
Yperion is making a new one so I’ll have to wait another few months...
