This took some time. I had to reposition the clamp quite a few times to pull this entire seam out.

Nothing is as easy as it looks. There are gaps visible on both sides of the replacement piece. It turns out the inner section of the car was also pushed in a bit during the accident. You know this means...

Once home I used some heat to free the structural adhesive. Then separated the old quarter panel strip from the door jamb.

Mine looks a lot different lol. I ended up straightening mine out a little bit. I also applied some seam sealer to the open seams. My concern was passing state inspection. I had no idea how in-depth it was going to be.

These are the workers at the salvage yard. I arrived at 9am to pay for the panel. They insisted on removing the panel for me. I was instructed to pick it up later in the day.

I gave them a call at 2pm. The part wasn't ready. Instead they asked if I could come help them remove it. By the time I arrived it was 115f outside, not fun. I worked fairly quickly for 20 minutes. The panel was almost free just as I overheated from the heat. I started feeling light headed with an elevated heartbeat. Luckily at this point the guys took over.

I decided it would be best to replace this section. The local salvage yard had the door jamb piece I needed.

I was initially going to have them cut it out on the yellow line. Fortunately they removed the small window which allowed them to cut it out along the window seam. This was less work for me. When installing it I didn't have to worry about the seam being in a visible area.

I've pulled on the wheel fender structure on 3 different occasions now. It's 115f outside. I can only take the heat for a few hours at a time. Currently that structure still needs to be 1/2" higher and about 1/2" further horizontally away from the tire.

This is a view of the quarter panel where it mounts to the charge port structure. If you look closely you can see the semi orange adhesive between the two. The quarter panel is somewhat folded all along the adhesive. This is damage from the crash. It amazes me how energy from the crash is spread out to areas like this.
