Lexion LX10S Linux Carplay Review
I purchased and installed this myself in my GSF a few weeks ago and have been loving it so far! I decided to go with the Lexion because most of all of the competitors use Android and take a lot longer to boot up. The Lexion boots very fast, faster than the OEM system would connect to bluetooth. I have not really had any issues with the system once the setup was complete. Customer support has been great but make sure you contact them through WhatsApp. I got a response almost immediately every time I contacted them.
I also loved that the system supports and HD backup camera and a front camera, both of which I connected. You can also use the factory OEM backup camera if you want to, and it retains the OEM parking guidelines. You can set the OEM camera to full screen but the image will be stretched, or you can have it display like OEM with the parking sensor display next to the backup image.
I connected the backup camera using a plug and play harness and an adapter to make it fit the OEM backup camera bracket. I also used an aftermarket camera bracket to mount the front camera in the grill. You can toggle the front camera either through the menu or by setting up an optional delay which will switch to the front camera for a custom duration after moving the shifter out of reverse. When using the HD backup camera you get a full screen image with moving parking guidelines, but I found the guidelines to be a little narrow, I wish you could adjust the width - but they do move with the steering wheel.
I also found the aftermarket camera's view was getting a lot of glare from the license plate lights at night time, so I used an adapter harness that disables the license plate lights when in reverse and that fixed that problem for me.
Pros:
- Very fast boot time - about 7 seconds to the Lexion menu and 17 seconds until Android Auto is fully connected. Supports wired or wireless AA and Carplay.
- Supports HD 1080P full screen backup camera
- Supports HD 1080P full screen front camera
- Audio routed through bluetooth so sound quality and microphone is as good as OEM
- Volume level displays when adjusting volume in Android Auto/Carplay
- Easy to install, all plug and play
- All steering wheel controls, joystick etc still work
- Full HD touchscreen
- Good customer support
- Have not had any erroneous disconnects or connection issues at all, it has been stable
Cons:
- I wish the screen was a little brighter. I have it turned up all the way but it can still get washed out in sunlight sometimes. Not a dealbreaker though. But if there was one thing I could change to make the unit basically perfect, this would be it.
- Linux model doesn't support phone screen mirroring, but this isn't something I ever needed or wanted.
- Installation instructions could be better. There is a good video but not a lot of instructions for setting up the system for your particular model. I had to contact support which was easy but unnecessary.
- Climate control pop up when adjusting temperature is visual only. You cannot use the pop up to adjust the climate. In order to adjust using the screen you have to switch to OEM screen mode and adjust it there. This means that in the GS the only way to toggle dual climate mode is to switch to the factory screen first.
- Duties have to be paid to DHL when the unit arrives in the USA. I had to pay separate duties for the Lexion unit and the backup camera separately since they were shipped separately. I think it was around $20 for each.
Feature I wish it had:
- Adjustable parking guide lines
- The ability to mirror the front camera view only. It has a mode for camera mirroring so the front looks correct, but it mirrors the rear camera too making it unusable. Its not a dealbreaker having the front camera mirrored, it just looks odd. I was able to use a different aftermarket camera that lets you mirror the camera itself which fixed the problem for me.
- Touch screen on the OEM screen mode would be nice
Overall the 3 main things that made me choose the Lexion over the competitor units was the Linux based fast boot up, full screen HD backup camera support and front camera support. All in all I am extremely pleased with the Lexion and would purchase it again, and I do recommend it to anyone who wants to update their infotainment.
Here's a video showing the boot time, and some pictures.

Could you please tell me where to buy the plug and play adaptor for the aftermarket rear camera. Also, does the pause button work, and does the volume number show when changing volume in Car Play mode?
Thank you,
Cliff

Which pause button are you talking about? The on screen one works, I didn't know we had a physical pause button. And yes the volume numbers do show on screen when you change the volume, same with the temperature when you adjust it.
The physical pause button is directly to the right of the CD/DVD slot. It is printed with an arrow to the right and 2 lines for play/pause. I use it all the time when I'm streaming apple music vis Bluetooth from my iPhone.
I see that the back up camera shows full screen, does it look stretched at all with the LX10S and HD Camera (Lexion AHD Cameras?). That's a crazy large adjustable wrench!
Have you tried the DVD player with the LX10S? Does it play in full screen or is it still only the left 2/3 of the screen?
How is the view from the front HD Camera? Is there a quick button to enable it when parking?
I will PM you regarding the harness now.
If you use an AHD camera you can view the rear camera full screen without any stretch, that's the setup I have. If you use the OEM camera you can also select full screen as an option but it will be stretched. The picture with the wrench in it is my front camera. There's two way you can turn the front camera on. First you can set a timer that will display the front camera for a set number of seconds after you switch from reverse to any other gear. It will automatically display the front camera after leaving reverse, then after the set time it will go back to the normal screen.
The second way is you can manually open the front camera by going to the main Lexion menu and clicking on the front camera icon. When you want to turn it off you just press your menu button by your joystick. Hopefully that helps.

I just bought a 2015 Lexus RX 350 and want to modernize it. I would like to ask your recommendations for the harness used to install the AHD rear camera, and the harness to disable the license plate light when driving in reverse, please and thank you.
If you are planning to use this system with Android: don’t buy the ****-controlled version. The quick menu is not accessible on Android, which makes the system practically unusable. This limitation is not mentioned anywhere, and based on my experience, the company is aware of it but does not fix it.
I purchased the Lexion full-screen CarPlay system for my Lexus IS300h because it looks premium and is clearly positioned above the cheaper Android-based alternatives. One of the main reasons I chose it was that it runs on Linux—I expected a fast, stable, and bug-free experience. Additionally, since the company presents itself as an international brand, I assumed the customer support would be reliable, responsive, and willing to address issues properly.
Before buying, I did my research and could not find any reports about these issues online, which made the product seem like a safe choice. However, based on my experience, I find it hard to believe that these problems are unique to my unit.
To be fair, the system is fast and visually impressive. From a design and performance standpoint, it delivers what you would expect in that price range.
However, the experience is let down by multiple small but frustrating bugs that significantly impact everyday usability.
The bigger issue, though, is the customer support. Initially, they were responsive and promised to investigate the reported issues. However:
- They never followed up on their own
- I had to reach out repeatedly (at least 4 times)
- Each time, they promised to look into it again, but no updates came
- Eventually, they replied that one of the issues cannot be fixed—and ignored the rest completely
While the system looks great and performs well in terms of speed, the combination of:
- unresolved bugs
- poor follow-up from support
- lack of transparent information before purchase
- and a critical, undocumented Android compatibility issue
In my opinion, this product is not worth paying more for compared to cheaper Android-based alternatives.
Your experience would be GREATLY appreciated. Also, please state whether you are using a Linux or Android based system. I'm pretty certain that may contribute to USB support. Thank you.
