Window regulator fix for Sc models
Here's another suggestion:
Drill an access hole through the guide rail that allows you to insert U-shaped wires that pass through the plastic assembly and lock the cable in place.
Since the white plastic piece has a metal core, the wires form a complete metal assembly that should last a long time.
This is a bit different from the fix discussed here so I started a new thread ( https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...-not-easy.html ) that shows some more pics of the procedure.

That's an awesome idea as I have tried fixing this via JB and it wouldnt hold twice! I was just about to order a new rail but im going to give this a shot.
And yes, I added a bunch of the JB weld in the right spot and cleaned it before I applied it and everything. It just doesnt hold when I roll the window to the top and it stops...
Im actually going to combine both of your guys's ideas and put JB weld on the metal wire!

My new regulator is still holding but it will eventually break again because the passenger side window is encountering a lot of resistance when moved manually without the regulator. The drivers side window is find and moves freely and as such the regulator was not stressed repeatedly which is what caused the passenger side to fail.
I lubricated the tracks with lithium grease but it made no difference. I'm at a loss as to why there is so much more resistance on that side.

Sorka- I've read that lithium grease starts out slippery, but then gums up, so it's not as good a lube to use on window tracks as silicone, so give that a try. Be sure to lube the top of the window seal area as well, since the window tends to stick to the seal up there, especially after not being opened for several days/weeks.
Evileagle - I'm glad glue/JB Weld has worked for some, but there is a lot of lateral stress going on in that area when you hit the window switch, so I am not surprised that it does not work for everyone.
To me, the key is that there is metal under the plastic, so once you drill through it you have a lot of fastening options available to you.

I'm an idiot. Now that you mentioned it, I did use a spray on silicon. I had just forgotten because it was a while ago and I usually use lithium grease for most lubrication jobs but now I remember that I used the silicon after doing some research.
did anyone else COMPLETELY destroy their door panel when doing this? ive been dealing with this broken for months and every now and then ill take a crack at it and never put the door together properly.
i did the fix but i had the cable on the spool wrong how are you guys spooling and putting it in so its tight. i havent figured out that part

Mine has been broken over the course of the wintertime and i just got around to fixing it. One thing i noticed ( after trying a few different fixes), that the regulator still wants to go up after the window is already up.
Im going to try to rig up a relay that breaks the wire open that sends the window up when it is already all the way up. Hopefully this saves a few people from goin thru this headache we all went through .
I dont know if there is already a system like that integrated in the car, if there is mine stopped working. What do you guys think?

me too my cable was destroyed also. I cant seem to get the window regulator out.. result

this is what i found at the bottom of the door

i hope mexrus doesnt mind but

Mine is stuck all the way to the top and i cant get it to go down. Do i pull on it? I tried using the window button to make it go down but it didn't move.
Should i buy a new one or a used one? z_z
