Window regulator fix for Sc models
Question.. this whole time i have been thinking my window motor went out on my 95 SC300. it went up and down fine. Fast even, not slow like it was going out or anything. Then one night driving it i rolled my window down and few mins later tried to roll it up. Made a sound like it was goin to go up but didnt. I can push the button up and down and it make a sound like its attempting to move but window doesnt. I was on a bumpy road when it happened so i never heard a pop or snap like anything broke. I can lift and lower the window by hand still.
Does this sound like it can be fixed with this method or is it in fact the motor itself needs changed in my situation?

Here’s the deal; I’m searching, but if anyone can point me in the right direction, thanks! I’ve already done this on both sides and am familiar with the repair, but I’m not too eager to drop another bill or two on another regulator considering how relatively *new* the one is that is in there. I don’t think it’s been five years, but I can’t remember for sure.
Mine failed this time at the pulley on the top. Can that be replaced? Seems like it could be punched out and a replacement pulley found to rivet in its place? Why is it plastic? Could a metal pulley possibly be used to replace that plastic one that failed?
What are the chances this might work if a repair is attempted? Am I just better off to bite the bullet and track down a regulator? I see they are going for nearly $200 now with shipping from Carson and that is CRAZY!

I don't think that one part can be replaced by itself. If I were you, I would just spend the extra $ and buy a used one out of a junkyard. Hard to find those SC's in junkyards but it's worth the wait. Maybe try checking the classifieds, you might get lucky. GL
I found my email receipt btw – 8/09…. It lasted THREE YEARS! The guides may be the cause – I confess I didn’t lube them up, but it seems like they let the window move freely.
I’m looking for a better price than Carson – I would never buy this used personally. It sounds like a total waste of money to buy a part like this used, but I’m pretty upset that my *new* one lasted only three years before failing again at the price I had to pay for it.

Well, I just ordered a *new* one from Justparts.com ($126) – for about $40 less than the original one (free shipping) and $50 cheaper than my last one from Carson…. We shall see. You can bet that a can of silicone will be used on these rails this time around.
Sorry for the post and not waiting, but I can only imagine a 'fix' will be shortlived.

I just went through this with my drivers side door. One day just driving around and I rolled the window down and tried to roll it back up and nothing happened. You can hear the motor turning but nothing moves. Opened the door up and the cable had ripped out of the plastic piece that drive the window up.
Ordered a new regulator off lexuspartsnow.com for $108.00 and its back to normal.
