I don't know where in cali you live, but if you would be in so. cali and if you would've gone to downtown Los Angeles, Alameda street, it would cost you less than 100 to fix it... there are about at least 50 shops on Alameda starting around 40th st to 110th st...

Default $100?

really? man. i was pretty desperate at that time. my driver's window had to be held up with clear packing tape... i finally reached the point that i just wanted it done. i sucked it up and brought it to the dealer... $475 out the window. however, i am up in the SF Bay Area. i actually asked around a few non-lexus shops and they gave me a similar price. at that point, i figured i should just goto the dealership.

Right in the middle of replacing my 1993 SC300 driver's side window regulator tonight! The guy that owned it before used a hose clamp around the regulator rail to hold the window up! LOL I did find that the plastic piece was pretty much destroyed with only one tab intact. The window guide rail was filthy too causing the window to stick anywhere I put it. A thorough cleaning followed by a teflon lube from Drummond should remedy that situation. I've found that it reduces friction even better than the silicon, at least on my other power window issues I've worked on over the years on my other cars. Thanks for the tips and hard work everyone!

There is no crackling noise, just a stubburn window.

Is this the regulator beginning to fail or something else?
I have the same problem. My passenger's side window works ok when hot and dry. But it moves slowly or barely at all when it's cold or wet.

Damn it, I'm pretty sure my regulator tab just broke as well as I heard a pop sound after I tried to roll up the driver's side window. I'll be getting one from Carson later this week.
I guess it is also a good time to replace the door handle snap connector while I'm in there.

Slow moving windows probably needs some lubrication or the motor is getting weak.

check the weather stripping on the outside where the window slides up and down. Occasionally the back part on the weather stripping on the door gets slides a little and slows the window when moving down. I just spray a little silicone lube and it slides freely again

Any suggestions??

BTW - I have a Lexus OEM PDF doc that explains how to take apart the door and window to get to the regulator... YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BEND THE RAIL!!!! If you arent skilled enough to put it back youll always have that rough spot and itll make noise and put extra stress on the motor... Dont make the smae mistake I made and just go at it and f--- up your tint.... Do it right the first time... Itll take longer but its worth it.... Messgae me if you want a copy of the document...
please forward me the instuctions for removing the regulator properly. Thank you sir

Are you talking about the bolts holding the regulator to the door or the ones holding the glass to the regulator?

My passenger window just did this a few days ago with 280K miles on the odometer.

Took about 10 minutes to remove the entire assembly. Not sure why so many are having troubles. 5 minutes to get the door panel off, 5 minutes for the rest(2 window bracket nuts, 3 rail nuts, 3 motor nuts, 3 screws holding cross brace).

Ordered it from Carson, but the price was $122. Couldn't find it cheaper anywhere else
