Steering weight

Is there a modification that can be made to an sc300 that will make the steering a bit heavier. There's nothing wrong with the steering mind you, I just prefer a slightly heavier feel especially a highway speeds and above. I did find a thread about a high pressure steering line fix, The question, does the length of the line, longer or shorter than stock have any effect on steering weight, was asked but not answered. Does anyone have any experience in this area?

I'm not sure what you mean by weight. do you mean stiffness? The length of the line doesn't change much because the fluid flows pretty fast. you might be able to pinch a line a bit and get some stiffness but I wouldn't recommend it. the ps pump will make a creaking noise when you turn the wheel if it doesnt have enough fluid and will wear it out quickly as will your steering rack. they design it to make the steering easier not harder.
but I guess if you REALLY wanted to, you could try pinching the line. but be warned.

I think that if you unplug the variable rate rack solenoid, it defaults to less assist, but I may have that backwards.

you mean the EVO unit? true, wouldn't hurt to unpug it and see if that helps.

Unplug the progressive power steering electrical plug located on the driver side of the steering rack.

Upgrade your steering rack bushing to polyurethane or solid aluminum

you dont need to mess with anything else.

I just replaced a failed steering rack and I could not be happier with the feel and how effortless making turns are.... Have to replace all of the bushings on the front LCAs next.... (it is a '92 ...).
