Before I start, I have searched and have found different opinions on similar but slightly different issues.
I rolled my window down and back up, I noticed it was moving a little slower than usual which peaked my interest, so I tried it again which in turn rolled back up successfully. When I attempted it a third time, I rolled it down about halfway and it would not roll back up, instead the motor made noise as if it was going back up but the window would not budge. I had to push the window back up by hand. Now that the window is all the way up, when I pull the switch for the window to go up, the motor continues nonstop even though the window is up. What could be the culprit causing this?
Sounds like the window motors' gear in the window regulator is gone. I'm not sure since I never took a door of an SC apart yet, but likely the window motor has a plastic gear that moves the gear for the window regulator that is mostly always metal.
I agree with ^^ My driver side window will create a loud sound sometimes when rolling it back up. Doesn't do it all the time and only does it when the window is rolled all the way down and creates the sound on the way up. I think my motor is going bad as well.
As noted above your regulator is cracked or broken. I've repaired mine as well. You'll probably just need anything that can keep the regulator on track so it can move up & down freely. I rigged it using a cotter pin & epoxy glue to keep it in place. Take door apart you'll then see the slider i'm referring too. Good luck
1JZPWRD inside passenger door photo. To the right behind the plastic cover, its the vertical metal slider your window slides up & down on. The plastic clip rides that metal piece.
