Question Window Regulator - Year Differences

I've got a set of 93 Motors sitting on the ground that came out of a junkyard car that worked great.

Looking online the regulators are from years 92-94 and 95-2002 - what are the differences? They visually look the same but have different P/Ns.

Also question, if the mount for the glass is off the regulator is it possible to put a new one on or transfer my existing one over to the new regulator? The employee that pulled the parts for me brought them back with the "mount" that the two square bolts go into to NOT attached to the regulator as they are usually.

the only difference i saw between my original n the other i got from the junkyard was the part of the wire that went in the plastic piece that slides in the rail were 2 little square things on the wire itself...the one i got out the junk yard only had 1. but it still worked the same. Physically both regulators looked the same it was jus the lil square metal piece on the wire that was different.

second question if i understand what your sayin, the plastic piece that slide in the rail that moves the glass yes u car tranfer it n yes it is a pita but once you do it you'll have that sense of satisfaction. I think OLT made a thread on repairing the plastic piece n he shows how to remove n re-install it. i hope i answered your question correctly.

Well, I'd rather not mess with drilling things out, etc. I'd rather just go ahead and buy a new regulator but from the sounds of it the 95-2002 regulator will fit the 92-94 motor.

Well that explains the difference in an SC400 and SC300 regulator, but not in the year difference between a 92 and 95 regulator.

I've got motors for both years, but I did notice my passenger side window never rolled down as far as my driver side. I'm willing to bet that it had been switched with the wrong one at some point.

I'm tempted just to order a whole new assembly with a motor from a 95 to be certain, but that's a hell of a lot of money that I could be putting into the rest of my setup.

Actually it does explain the differences. There are only two total and those are the two. Everything else is the same part, Toyota just updates the numbers on the refresh years. It was not just in the SC300/SC400, it was year specific as well. The title merely indicates the obvious. You only need to know if you have the long or the short by comparing to the photos in the thread linked to what you have.

Awesome, that does make more sense. These are both out of a SC300, so I'll see if I can get the mount back on it from the yard and hopefully make my passenger side window roll up and down once again instead of that nice chunk of wood holding it up hah

Here's a refresh example on an unrelated part from 92 to 93 that still works on the 92 https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...ps-sensor.html

I still find it amazing that they bothered to engineer two completely different regulator setups for cars that were identical except for the engine. It cannot have served a useful purpose, that's for sure!

This really is true, what was the point of that? Maybe the tint on the SC400 was heavier or something and they decided the extra bracing was needed in that exact spaced out format?

idk y toyota/lexus did this with the regulators doesnt make sense to me. My driver window works better than my passanger though so whateva works. after reading this i did notice both windows dont go down to the same level, ones higher than the other and i cant remember if i got the regulator from a 300 or a 400. ****!
