Default Leaking shocks?

Took my wife's 2012 RX to my local Toyota for 30k service (and save $250 from Lexus price for same service). Tech stated that the rear shocks are leaking. Set up service with my dealer to replace. Is this a common occurance?

yessir, I had both my rear shocks replaced at 30K miles. It was only discovered after I told them I was noticing squeaking noises coming from the rear over bumps. Then, both trailing arms were also replaced.

Yes. Both rears replaced at 32K due to leaking.

Shocks should be covered by warranty. Also check TSB L-SB-0013-13 about problems with the shocks. My 2010 is about to be fixed under warranty by my Lexus dealer.

Couldn't find a TSB on it, but all I had to do was ride with a tech and he confirmed there was a noise coming from the rear, most likely due to the trailing arm. Annoyingly, they only changed one side on that visit. It was at the next service that I told him the rear was still making noise.

RXSF,
Thanks for the reply. Had my F150 at the Lexus dealer today for snow tires & questioned the noise.
Her car, the RX, is going in on Monday for service & they will have a look.
I have every hinge point, every mating surface, everything I could see in the rear hatch area that might vibrate, coated with Rust-Check.
Still the squeak/rattle is still there. We'll see what they find. This time of year I don't have any desire to crawl under the car while it's dripping from melted snow.

Now, while waiting for the tires I was in the showroom reading the paper & having a coffee.
Friend on my son is a salesman out there. "Come over here & have a look at this one."
New RC-F, black on black, being delivered Monday. All I can say is "WOW".
Felt like a teengaer again & didn't even start it.

Just rolled over 60,000 miles on a 2012 450h and replaced leaking shocks.
