Default Rides like new!

Recently had replaced rear shocks in my 2010 Rx450h. Been a great car since we bought CPO in 2013 with less than 12k miles. Anyway past year have noticed a short rattle, right rear tire area when driving lower speeds, bumps, dips in road etc. Just shy of 60k miles but had local place replace shocks. $395 but worth every penny. Rides as good as the day I bought. Smooooooooth!

That’s a lot of labour charge for 30mins job with OEM shocks that only cost $50 each.

Replaced shocks and whatever goes with them in rear. Wonder what Lexus would charge?

Just to correct 703, OEM shocks do not cost $50. More like $150. Each. Indy shop I use has noticed a leak in the rear shock and they are charging $160 per shock plus $80 each in labor. This one I am doing myself.

Nope. OEM Lexus shock for rear is $55.87 free shipping. So you looking at say $120 for both. Shocks are easy access and job. About an hour for both slow pace. That's say another 110-120. Grand total will be 230-240 at the worst.

Hello Ukrokz, first thanks for all your informative posts! I do try to not pass on bad info, when my mechanic gave me the pricing the first thing I did was check pricing.
KYB makes 3 levels of shocks that fit the 2010-2015 350/450 rear, 3 different price points and warranty. I'm going by memory (can be a dangerous thing) but they offer a $50, $70 and $169 shock. The $169 is currently on sale for $130 at Buy Auto Parts. It has an unlimited mileage 1 year warranty. Thats what I based my reply on. But Lexus Parts online has rear shocks for $70. No idea what one gets for the extra $100 for the KYB...
